"You can only sell as many units as you can produce. If the PS4 had launched in Europe simultaneously, they certainly would not have had 1 million units allotted just for North America."
Not sure about that, As things stand, MS was only able to manufacture 1.5 million Xbox One for lauch, while Sony had 2.5 million consoles ready by last week. The thing is, the two weeks launch window allows Sony to gauge how the next batch of consoles to be sold...

We saw how it went last generation, even with one year delay and 6 months of exclusives drought (besides Resistance), at the end of the day PS3 got way more AAA exclusives than 360.
For launch exclusives maybe, but then what's left? Quantum thing, Titanfall and Halo 5... As for PS4 : Uncharted 4, the Order, Infamous SS, Driveclub, new Santa Monica Studio game, Japanese exclusives like Yakuza, Lili Bergamo, Last Guardian and a lot more indie games...
As for more features and better online I wouldn't be so categorical.
Excellent list, mainly because it's mostly the games I'd pick up for a top ten, except maybe I'd replace Tales of Xilia with Heavy Rain and PS All Stars with Demon's Souls.
@GribbleGrunger
2.2 to 2.5 million ? With Black Friday and Christmas approaching It will probably be more around 3.2 million (1.7 million in EU and 1.5 million in the US). Mark my words !
Well Xbox One is launching simultaneously in 13 countries which will maybe (not even sure now seeing how well PS4 sold day 1 in the US) might give it a slight advantage in launch sales.
One thing's for sure though, with european launch included I think we will see PS4 outselling the Xbox One 3:1 by the end of the month.
@IHassouna
No no the Wii launched first in the Americas (USA, Canada, Mexico, Brasil, Peru, etc.) and almost a month later in Japan and other territories.
Actually it was 600K the first WEEK for North AND South America. Which means Wii record is pulverized.
I've seen the pulsing blue light happen live yesterday while watching the videogamesawsome stream. Netflix crashed the PS4 and Fraser tried to reboot the console by pushing the power button for 7 seconds... on his third try and after pushing it for at least 30 seconds the console rebooted and worked fine after that ... for hours !
All I've seen is people reporting a pulsing blue light. Yesterday I saw it happened live while watching the videogamesawsome live stream when Netflix crashed the PS4. Fraser (the host) tried to reboot the console by pushing and holding the power button for 7 seconds... on his third try after a good 30 seconds of pushing it worked, the console rebooted and everything was pretty fine after that.

Ok, let's say the always online feature (or the online check every now and then) is still valid : you buy your discs and install all those games on "the cloud" to have them digitally accessible, right. Once you do that your discs becomes somwhat useless. Now think about MS pulling the plug on the Xbox division, or live support being discontinued what you would be left with is a useless console with useless discs, but if that's ok with you, be my guest.
@Kreate
Higher price point, one year delay and the all RROD fiasco which ironically gave the 360 a significant boost in sales with spare consoles and rebuy. And still MS didn't manage to take advantage of the 10M consoles lead they had over PS3... because they lacked first party games and thought they could just get away with money hating third parties into exclusive content and timed exclusives.
What has changed now is PS4 is cheaper, it's more powerful, it...
Yeah Pachter is a clown, I called it too.
This is exactly how I think it goes. When they announced the 5M sales target for end of fiscal year (March 31st) I assumed that they actually intend to sell around 5.3-5.4M and therefore manufacture around 6M PS4. Which means they're making 850K/months (6M/7).
They started manufacturing the PS4 just a little prior to Septembre which will give them almost 2.4 million consoles on the shelves by EU launch. After th...

Why are they leaning on cloud already as a launch game? Is there not enough system resources?
Forza will lack features online, perhaps limiting the number of cars per track? "
