Who says you don't have to own a Sony product ? It seems to me Kaz Hirai was very specific in the presentation that Playstation Now streams to Sony devices only.
Now I'm waiting a call from Wedbush Securities to offer me Pachter's job since I predicted this exact figure in a former post about the 3m MS claim : http://n4g.com/user/useract...
@Bennibop
No they're probably counting manufactured consoles as sold and to coroborate their 3m figure they will tout Xbox One accounts (which are not relevant) as they did with the meaningless zombie stats. In reality they just mafucatured around 3m consoles so I don't see how they could have sold them through already, especially when its not constrained anywhere.
My guess is, since they constantly had to react to counter Sony's figures : first t...
Not at all, as said above they launched in Italy even if voice command is not supported and they didn't launch in Switzerland (which is surrounded by Germany, France and Italy) even if german and french voice commands are supported.
The truth is they probably had manufacturing problems (which have been reported by chinese press) and had to remove some launch countries to concentrate their production toward the big markets especially the US and the UK.
Yeah but if you remove Kinect what's left to the XBO to justify its price tag even at 399$ ?
No more voice commands, no more face recognition, no more gesture commands, no more snap mode, set-top box you have to navigate with your controler, and a weaker hardware.
While PS4 can still have voice command without the camera (if that's really a selling point which I doubt), is more powerfull, has remote play, will have more exclusives and will probably ...
Sorry but an analyst who bases his guess on Ebay premium price sales is as credible as having a tarot reading by phone.
Analysts should go by target figures for both companies : 5m sell-through end of March for Sony, and 6.2m XBO produced end of June for MS. Based on this, they can extrapolate how many consoles are manufactured monthly by each company and can estimate sell-through ratio combining first launch sales, demand and availability in actual STORES (not on Ebay or Cr...
Well they had to ramp up production to ensure enough supply for Japanese launch.
hum... I really doubt those figures as of now Sony has been able to manufacture 4m consoles in 4.5 months, but out of those probably only 3.6m have been shipped out, and if you take a high sell-through ratio of 88% due to obvious drought in stores (12% being in distributors warehouse, back shops, and part of it retained in prevision of Japanese launch) you get only : 3.16m sold.
Applying the same logic to MS shippment target figures for end of June (6.2m), one can extrapolate...
@Keebab
Well if it speaks to you, there are about 300K more PS4 manufactured each month than XBO.
@rainslacker
"the supply seems to be about even between the two."
Thing is in the real world they are not even at all : MS manufacturing forcast figures are at 6.2m for end of June, while Sony has the same forecast at around 5.5m for end of March. The difference is that Sony manufactures at a minimum 900K PS4/month while MS is producing 620K XBO/month.
I've seen MS lower these figures form 7m in September and they have not been reviewd s...
As it seems really difficult to prove KZSF is better looking than Ryse because of the game design, how about comparing apples to apples and oppose Ryse to another linear action game like third party exclusive Deep Down :

"MSFT is producing more XB1's and faster. It's just that simple. MSFT resupplies them faster do to their high demand http://news.xbox.com/2013/1... "
Yeah right, that's why MS figures show they plan to MANUFACTURE 6.2m Xbox One by June 30th, while Sony plans to SELL 5m+ PS4 by march 31st.
MS cannot be trusted with these figures, first of because there is no way they have manufactured 2m consoles, their own target shipment figures (not sold, shipped) for end of fiscal year 6.2 m (reduced from 7 m) proves that they can only manufacture an average of 620K a month. Therefore three months of production = 1.86m. And that is if you don’t take into account the problems of component supply they faced in September, the fact that the last two weeks of production are either not yet ...
He's not, e.g. he said MS was producing 1 million consoles per month which is in total contradiction with MS own target shipment figures (6.2 m in ten months). Therefore MS was only able to manufacture 1.5 m for launch, and said batch is definitely not sold out. Bet their sales are 1.3 million max, with 850k in the US.
As for Sony they had 2.7 m to cover US and EU launch... Everything seems to have flown from the shelves. They probably allocated a little more in the US th...
If you think they gonna allow regular hard drives you will be disappointed, knowing MS business model it will probably require a proprietary (costly) HD.

@MajorJackHoff
"I'll tell you right now, the One's sales will be nowhere near the PS4's come January. They'll gain some ground after that if Microsoft markets their system well enough. "
Huh uh I don't see that comming at all ... the gap can only widen with PS4 Asian launch in December and Japanese launch in February.
Maths are easy and they match your prediction.
By US launch Sony had shipped 2.3 million consoles, by EU launch the total will amount at 2.8m. After that Sony has still one full month of production to ship : about 1m. Assuming Sony will sell through 87% of its production (the rest being stored in warehouses or waiting in back shops), by the end of the year PS4 will reach 3.3 million.
On the other hand, MS has shipped between 1.4 and 1.5 million consoles for l...

"According to the Pach Attack, each company can make 1 million units a month. Production started in August so to date 5 million of each have been made. Where are the other million PS4's???"
Pachter is a moron who spout things out without verifying them.
First : Sony said they were in mass production by the begining of September therefore they probably started to manufacture the PS4 two weeks prior to that. The pre-(mas...
