Dragon Quest VIII
Final Fantasy IX
Red dead Redemption
@Antwan3K
I clearly remember MS dropping the XBox as soon as the 360 came out, I remember a large MS barge full of people taunting the gamers who were at the PS3 Paris launch. I also remember MS denying the RROD for two years ... talk about arrogance.
Yeah List ! I only choose songs though.
Tenchu 2 : Sadame (opening title)
Journey : I was born for this (ending song)
Zone of Enders 2 : Beyond the bounds (opening song)
Lunar Silver Star Story : Wind Nocturn (Luna's boat song)
Ico : You were there (ending song)
Final Fantasy VIII : Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec (opening theme)
Final Fantasy IX : Melodies of Life (I know alr...
No technically we can say Sega knocked itself off the game console by tryin to always stay at the cutting edge of technology, but Nintendo greatly helped bringing forward Sega's demise when it played a dirty trick on Sony and the latter entered the industry in retalition.
Actually PS4 did not sell 215K which was an estimate from a GAF insider, calculated from the revenue figures published by NPD, but 199K.
Well it's almost 2:1 NPD numbers PS4=215K XBO=115K
I did. When I learned about the new slim comming out, I hunted down and payed premium price for an OLED Vita (at least it was new). The difference might not be that significant to certain people but to me brightness and colors are night and day.
Remember ? MS said themselves they sold-through 3m consoles by the end of the year (which is also end of Q2). Now if we go by shipped=sold then why didn't MS announce 3.9m instead of just 3m ?
Or would that mean MS stuffed the channels and 900k XBO (which had not been ordered by retailers) were just sitting on the shelves at that time or were piled up in warehouses somewhere waiting to be sent back to MS ?
Maybe because Sony unlike MS doesn't put most of its eggs into the exclusive or timed exclusive content basket which is an easy (more like lazy) and economical solution to gain marketshare, the hard road being to bring constantly new exclusive IPs for your console.
@Kingthrash360
yeah but only 450m of those people are considered middle class or higher and have enough money to actually buy a PS4.
@MysticStrummer
I could argue that it's easier to push good graphics in a FPS or any first person perspective game than it is with a third person perspective game because it doesn't require complex animations of your caracter, and there's no need to implement a manual or automated camera-control scheme.
Lack of preorders/demand is probably part of the reason why MS lowered their target figures for end of fiscal year of nearly one million.
But still, by the look of it, they are producing a lot more than they can actually sell-through and resort to channel stuffing, although it has never been a problem for MS : they just pour money down the drain, tend to over manufacture their products to pass them off as successes and then store the unsold stock into warehouses. It has been ...
Both companies give the "sold to retailers" figure, the difference is that MS has been known in the past to do channel stuffing and to lease warehouses to store "sold" stock to a subsidiary company which would then resell it to distributors when needed (check the windows Vista debacle).
But even without resorting to these kind of tricks, you can tell that MS has no way near sold the 3m they claim. 3.2m is what they have been able to manufacture by end of D...
On the contrary there is more common sens than you think in n4g members and here is why : Microsoft released its console in its strongholds (US and UK) and everywhere else were Xbox 360 sales have been relevant this past gen (Spain, Mexico, France, Germany, Australia and Italy).
The other countries where MS didn't bother launch XBO are little markets which have always been more PS friendly anyway and releasing in those countries would have only resulted in marginal sales ...
@Chris and Air
Xbox 360 was the console of choice in the US and UK last gen isn't that right ?
US sales for PS4 are now at 2.6m while XBO are at 2m. PS4 is nowhere to be seen while XBO can still be found on shelves.
Same thing in the UK, last gen Xbox 360 was crushing PS3, this gen PS4 sold 530k and is unavailable while XBO, with one week headstart sold 364k and is still available ... do you see a pattern here ?
If XBO ha...
There's also the fact that the countries were XBO didn't release are mostly little markets which have always been more PS friendly.
XBO has been released in every country where Xbox brand really matters (US, UK, Canada, Mexico, Spain, France, Germany, Autralia and Italy)
I can tell you that in Switzerland, because of high demand and scarce supplies, one of the biggest electronic retailers is importing PS4s (standalone and gamepacks) directly from the US and selling them respectively at $745.- and $825.-, that's $250.- more than their regular price. And they still go like hotcakes.
@Kavorklestein
FYI Sony has ATM five models of tablets/convertibles (XperiaS, XperiaZ, Vaio Duo, Tap, and Fit) and a plethora of smartphones.
I'm an adult and I'd choose Puppeteer or Tearaway over Uncharted anytime.
On the other hand I can relate to your nephew's POV since I've always found Mario games to be rather childish and unappealing.
Did you shoot the marked target ? If you try to hit random targets the gun doesn't fire.
