just got the Gear VR and there is a couple of videos of concerts and holy crap it's cool, it is like being on stage.
Now the resolution is so bad that it detracts from the experience but it IS like nothing else. If you like djs and bands next gen VR will be awsome for experiencing that environment.

4k tvs have been available from every manufacturer for 2 years now.
Last year from Walmart I got a 4k tv 50 inch from Vizio. I'd say 4k tvs are easily available. The year before I had a 55inch 4k from Sears.
I was at 4k before x1 was even announced.
Exactly, I got the Gear VR and as a tech head I'll strap that joker on, but all my friends won't even put on 3d glasses.
VR is vary similar to 3d tv, but better because of the scale and the 360 angles, but I'm telling you soccer moms, college kids, fat dad's aren't going to TOUCH VR, only the ones that embrace 3dtv.
I got the Samsung Gear VR yesterday and if you like 3d then you will like VR.
Thing is seems like most didn't like 3d so I can't see mainstream putting on the headset, which is cosiderablely more involved than 3d glasses.
If a Note4 can do what I seen then a ps4 will have no problem rendering since it's 10x more powerful.
I'm into move, kinect, 3dtv, vr, 4k but only us nuts will strap this concoction on.
Can't the kids working in sweat shops be joyous they have a job, and not put a negative spin on it. That industry is so hard to enjoy.

I was going to play ODST but 1, I couldn't find it in the menus and 2, when I researched the timeline, says I should play reach first and watch the until dawn show.
Which I did watch a few episodes and I like them. Started playing Reach and since its first, playing it on the lower gfx kind of works for me. But boy does that resolution hurt my eyes. (4kpc)

Really bothers me when people claim the buyer has no sense. If the person wants the card he may buy it and the fact he has the budget has nothing to do with his intellect.
In fact if his budget is greater than yours maybe he doesn't have to be in the lower price grade for a reason.

Nice comment, especially the reference to 3d glasses. Almost all non tech people I know couldn't bother with 3d at the theatre and even less at home.
Even some tech people who have a higher tolerance didn't want to mess with 3d. I happen to love it and like you said, rift will be cool and I will have it, but it's hard visualizing it going mainstream.
