"Now, I have no way to independently verify that the users who have approached me are actually running unmodded consoles"
Is this good reporting? It's just a rumor!
I went to Best Buy yesterday. There were 2 large stacks of PS3s, a few Arcade 360s, 1 Halo 360, no Wiis.
There were no Premium or Elite 360s and a guy was walking around with the second-to-last Halo 360.
Matt C. worships Nintendo to the point where it is illogical. He actually buys new Wiis and gives them away to friends/family "for the cause". He asks his podcast listeners to buy crappy 3rd party games "for the cause".
I don't believe that he is biased due to his marriage. I think he got married to the Nintendo PR exec because he worships Mario.
Regardless, he should resign from IGN.
When the PS3 can match the 360, it's considered an achievement.
Hey, maybe Microsoft should give achievement points to Sony when the PS3 has a game that runs as good as a 360 game?
I have used the USB wire for my 360 and the downside is that you lose the "wireless" experience. When your mom wants you to put the PS3 or 360 away, she doesn't want to see controllers hooked up to it.
This charger is nice since it allows you to store the controllers away from the PS3.
The only problem with the combat is leveling up. You don't shoot accurately at low levels and your bullets lack "oomph". But as soon as you gain levels, the combat becomes fun.
I don't think that's the right word or spelling.
My experience with Xbox games has been good. The nice thing is that they all run at 720p.
His test used an "unflagged" disk. That means the disk does not communicate the source resolution to the 360 (or DVD player).
What DVD or HD-DVD would not have a "flag"?
He said that the unflagged HD-DVD test scored a "zero". This is utterly ridiculous. That would suggest the image was completely snowy or black.
I have the HD-DVD player and it is great.
He was told to write a glowing review, but decided that he didn't like his job enough to follow through. So, he made his own personal video review without the knowledge of the execs and posted it.
Why do I think this?
His video review looks amateur. Compare the quality of the UT3 video review to the K&L review. The K&L review sounds tinny and the image quality is not as high.
Jeff also bashes the game pretty hard. He opens with, "Kane ...
Zero problems with my launch 360. My gamerscore is over 14,000 (Berserker 2 is my tag if you want to check). I've played every RPG. The japanese RPGs don't even dent the gamerscore. I'm at 70 hours in Mass Effect right now. I play for 8-12 hours sometimes.
I'm sure there's a design flaw in the manufacturing, but I can't believe that 8 would break. He's doing something wrong. He said that he keeps it in an entertainment center, but I guess that he has hot components below the 36...
Just keep the liberals out of power, and there won't be government regulation of video games.
Were you hitting the trigger quickly? (Scrolling between characters)
I'm sure there are glitches, but I haven't had a single one.
I played the original Half-Life 2 on PC. I had more fun with Deus Ex 2 a full year before HL2 came out. I also liked Vampire Maquerade: Bloodlines (a Source Engine game), better. VMB actually put the "40 points of facial articulation" to good use.
Half-Life 2 was "too serious". It was boring. I don't have much desire to pick up the Orange Box.
Since the 360 version runs smoother and came out earlier, it is the superior version. But PS3 owners won't give up. Only when they make the switch, will the bickering end.
The reason for the "flaws" is the ambitious scale and detail. For the most part, Mass Effect loads in real-time. This constant loading is the reason for the hiccups (similar to Oblivion). In general, the frame rate is very smooth.
And don't listen to anyone that says it can be beaten in 12 hours. I spent 45 hours on the first play-through and I skipped a ton of stuff. I'm on my second at 22 hours and I am about half way.
I bought a 360 on Dec 18, 2005 and had no problems. I'm playing Mass Effect for the second time now. I bought COD4, but Mass Effect is so good that I can't squeeze any time for COD4. I also feel bad that I'm neglecting Halo 3 MP.
JE stunk in every way.
If this rumor is true, I hope they are outsourcing the work. Please don't waste talent on JE2!
