This might get accepted, but it won't be nearly as "hot" as the one talking about the worldwide numbers.

Why?

Because people love comparisons. When it's "PS3 Passes 11 Million In US", that get's no recognition. When it says "PS3 Passes 11 Million, Still Under 360 Total In US", it would go ablaze.

Funny how the N4G audience wants honest and clear sales news, but when put side by side with other consoles, it's blasphemy...

Where is this FPS you speak of.....?

Soooo many things wrong with your post.

Not if you don't want it to be.

The Move and a free game. Under $100. You don't NEED everything else.

That like saying "Having A Game Collection Will Start Getting Expensive"

Well..... obviously. If I have 13 PS3 games, they were all $60. Of course they'll be expensive after a while. I don't need all those games.

My friend's mom has a Wii and all she bought was the nun-chuck. That's all she needs.

That reminds me.

I'm surprised that even the King of Hating Games (Jack Thompson) owns a PS3. Most likely for Blu-Ray. That format really has gone far. I feel that if M$ had HDDVD built-in to the console, it would've given that format a huge boost. Over 5 million people would've owned an HDDVD player before the PS3 was even released because of the 360 alone.

I think it was a misstep. They have to be careful with their judgments from now on.

There will always be some people who want physical representations of something.

Until people get forced to follow the digital route, it will take years and years until everyone gets used to it. It's part of the reason why video game consoles are still insanely popular and relevant (that and power).

It's also part of the reason why CD players are still standard in today's cars. Even if MP3 is hugely successful (which it is), many still like to burn them onto CDs and ...

Try finding a 360 right now.

Now try finding a Wii or PS3.

5819d ago 2 agree0 disagreeView comment

True that. The PS2 sold over 5 million last year!

5819d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

Would that still matter if that's one of the only countries one console outsells the other in?

If the total worldwide numbers see things differently, just how powerful can the US really be? Especially in a bad economy...

.... How the f*** is Uncharted 2 still winning things??!!

Good thing it's a fun game :D

5819d ago 5 agree0 disagreeView comment

But, dude, that's EXACTLY what I'm talking about.

Why does it matter how long? Because people move on? Why is that?

The way I see it, if Sony doesn't release a console to compete with the next Xbox, it'll still be competing with everything even when they are discontinued. It's why people compare PS2 to 360 in Japan's weekly sales. The PS2 outsold both console in it's generation (combined) and the way I see it, it's still competing, this time with the 7th generation c...

And that totally means the rest aren't welcome.

That totally means the rest of the world's sales shouldn't be heard.

Come on, dude... the US is mostly home to English-speaking people, but we make room for those who don't, either.

5819d ago 2 agree2 disagreeView comment

That's the funny part. It apparently matters how long it takes to outsell one another....

The original Xbox sold over 30 million and the PS2 sold over 145 million. Why don't we stop counting how much the PS2 has sold after the Xbox died? Because, whether people move on or not, it's still selling.

That just sounds like a "but it's not fair if one gets discontinued" excuse. Does it matter how long it takes? Either way, people are going to count the numbers fo...

..... how off do you think those numbers are? They gather data from whatever retailers they go to, which doesn't include Wal-Mart or any online retailers.

And hasn't it always been this way? Why would it be so different just because the 360 outsold the Wii in the US. The 360 has always outsold the PS3 in the US (save some weeks in the past) and the PS3 always outsells it worldwide. Why would it be different, I don't understand?

@above: But those numbers ARE from NPD,...

They did, dude. PS3 outsold 360 in 2009.

Am I the only one who scrolled down?

THERE ARE FOUR SOURCES!!!!!! How are those numbers made up?! The article didn't even sound biased. They practically praised the 360 right off the bat...

FFS, ARE YOU STILL TALKING??!!

Like I said to the person up there somewhere in these comments:

Don't look behind you just yet. You're obviously forgetting the whole world. The big news about Feb. isn't even that the 360 outsold the PS3 in the US. That's been going on ALL YEAR. The surprise is that it outsold the Wii in the US for the first time, which the PS3 has done plenty of times before ;)

Other than that, everything is the same. PS3 outsold 360 yet...
