"Why not simply hook your gaming PCs up to those displays?"
Resolution. PC monitors have a higher resolution than any TV can output. Most PC monitors have post-HD resolutions (ie greater than 1080i/p.)It looks horrible.
Time to upgrade.
But I'd take an nVidia over an ATI any day.
I love Valve. I have been a die-hard fan since Half Life.I love their games, I really like the direction Steam is heading. What I don't like is their attitude. I don't have a PS3, but I respect the platform. PS3 has great games and Valve is too snobby to realize that it's a big pile of money ready for them to jump into, that's IF they decide to develop for it.
I don't see how a game with Steamworks integration can hurt other DD services like D2D. If people have been using those o...

I don't see any reason for Valve to be boasting./s
It's all there for you to play with. Valve even encourages it! That's how they keep games fresh. Look at the original Counter Strike. Tons of people are still playing it because of mods and community made maps. Team Fortress Classic probably still has people playing. I have friends who play Half Life 2, Ep.1 and Ep. 2 frequently just because it's such a good game. And the game is what, five years old? You don't see a lot of people playing a 5 year old game that often and even now Valve contin...
Anyone who says multiplats are worse on PC must be joking.
Consoles are limited by their hardware. Which is old compared to what new PCs can produce. PCs will keep on evolving and leaving the consoles in the dust. Almost every single multiplat on PC is better. There are a few crappy ones like GTAIV but the game just sucked in general. Bioshock, Team Fortress 2, Mass Effect, Assassin's Creed, Dragon Age, Half Life 2, those are just some of the many multiplats that are better on P...
PC gaming is not dead. It will never be. For every 5 "must play" console games there will be one super ultra mega PC game that would make console players drool. Examples would be D3 and SC2, HL3, and Crysis2. I mainly game on PC and 90% of my friends game on PC. Not one of them pirates. Pirating isn't that bad in countries like US and England, but when you get into third world countries where people live off of $5 a week you will see a tremendous amount of pirated and copied games. ...
My last Alienware PC was not what I expected. I'd rather build one myself for cheaper and usually have better performance.
Over the course of history, nVidia and AMD have been competing in the graphics market. AMD releases something, nVidia beats it. AMD releases something, nVidia beats it, again. This is at a performance:price ratio. You're right though. People don't really have incentive to buy this card unless they have some super crazy PC. Plus there are hardly any DX11 compatible games right now. The only one I could think of off the top of my head is DiRT2.
Even now with the upcoming release of...
Won't see these visuals anywhere else.
CryEngine makes consoles cry.

Hell, even Source Engine makes consoles cry.
@1.3
This isn't a multiplat game. It will never be, and the console version of CryEngine2 will probably make your consoles explode.
"Whatever. Most multi-format games don't look *that* much different on a PC"
Ummm.. are you blind? Consoles have little to no AA. So when you play on your "HDTV" you see no jaggies. That's because it's not even HD (720p) or just HD(1080i/p). Most monitors have more than HD so when you play 360 or PS3 on a monitor you're going to see a metric buttload of jaggies.
In fact, I just played Halo 3 on my 1900x1200 monitor on Foundry and everywhere I loo...
I have a DS. Yes, the first one. The chunky grey one. It's been through hell and back with me and still managed to survive.
I'm surprised the XL doesn't come with cookies! Because BigN is milking the DS right now.
HA you're right. No wonder, I was going "WTF ZOMG 92.7 FOR CRYSIS" but it's only 41.37. Still, that is a LOT better than what any card can put out right now.
I get about 30 with medium settings and 1900x1200 and no AA but I prefer to play at a lower res (something like 1600x1200) with max settings and 4xAA and I seem to get very little framerate hiccups.
92.7 on Crysis. They didn't put what monitor res though so all those recorded frames are kinda unreliable.
I like tits. I like games.
So mash them up and you get.. tits in games! Makes sense. Team Ninja perfected it.
I'm sure what I said goes for everyone here. Unless you're twelve, and then if you are you should be at school or something and not reading this at all.
Halo is pretty cool. I played through it twice, once on heroic and then again on Legendary. But I wouldn't go back and play it just for kix.
I remember MGS2: Sons of Liberty. One of the best Metal Gear games in my opinion. I have yet to play MGS4 though.
Man, you have way too much money on your hands.
@ Below
Dood, LOL. You're kidding right? No one in their right mind would drop that much at once. You have to steadily upgrade or you'll be too broke to pay for your games that won't even fully utilize a quad core. My dual is more than enough for the moment.
"MAG and CoD has a lot of noise when you playing even some music which makes the battles feel intense, BC2 needs to do the same."
You sir, have crappyfpsgamecalledcod-itis.
The beta is running on an old engine. The new one will be in the final game.
Also, did you try turning your speakers up?
Good analogy. But I was thinking something more along the lines of this:
Say you have a nice car. You know this mechanic and you've had him fix your car for years. You trust him and he does a good job. Now if your car broke down, you would go back to that mechanic that you trust because, well, because you trust him. Same with Steam and other DD services. You trust that service and then you would rather buy from that and know that what you're getting than buying from a new service...
