I think the next big engine revolution will be iD Tech 5 and then UE4. After that, Source 2.0 or whatever they call it will have the spotlight but for now seeing as how Valve time goes next Source engine is still quite a way down the road.

A pirated game does not mean lost sales. I've pirated many games before and I'm very open about it. I don't try to hide it. My Steam Library is proof enough that I buy games, 90+ and counting. I download games because I'm not going to spend money on a game I get bored of 20 minutes in. Download, try it, if I like it then I buy it on Steam or D2D, Amazon Digital, or any other DD service.

PC games don't use MLAA because there is no need to, the GPU handles brute force tactics (MSAA, QSAA, CSAA) up to 4xMSAA without a performance drop. 4xMS is enough to get rid of most (~90%) of noticeable jaggies. MLAA is post processing, blurring the frame to artificially remove jags while MSAA etc.. on PC actually use algorithms and edge detection. That's why MLAA is not widely used on PC, nobody wants it. PS3 uses MLAA because it's weak and can't candlt 2xMSAA without a kick...

ATI have just been outperformed by nVidia in every generation. They are usually first to market with a new GPU but fall short when nVidia beats them. It has always been like this, my first video card was an ATI but I soon switched over to nVidia and never looked back.
