@RauLeCrueset
One very long comment with very little relevance to the discussion. I guess you really did miss the point. Crackdown 3 and NPD have so much to do with this conversation don't they...
@AspiringProGenji
Lol, walking machines in the background eh? So are the visual options that would've made the Witcher 3's background look better not exactly the same then? Background visuals are not gameplay.
@Hyrazinezz
"Walking machines, the giant creatures in the wild?"
Walking machines exist in the game and giant creatures in the wild also exist. You need to be more specific.

@RaeLeCreuset
"The point wasn't missed."
It was completely missed. How hard is it for people to understand that selling one piece of hardware in this industry does not generate much money at all. Sony, MS and Nintendo all know that money is primarily generated from 3rd party licensing, 1st party sales and subscription services. Add up how many consoles you've bought and compare the price to how many games, subscriptions and DLC you'v...
Such as?
It's just a well known game for the mechanic so its the first people use to try and draw analogies with new releases that use similar mechanics. It's why we use the term Rogue-Like/Lite and Souls-Like as a way to describe similar gameplay forumla.
It's amazing how its taken less than a day for people to begin misquoting what was said and take it out of context. How about people fully quote what Phil said without being deliberately dishonest?
"Not that this is a bash towards CDPR but more a showing that ALL developers/publishers lie and downgrade."
Its more about bashing them for being dishonest in this particular instance and not the overall quality of the game. We shouldn't accept dev's showing visuals that aren't going to make it into the final product or accept the sort of excuses CDPR came up with post-launch like "well what we showed wasn't gameplay so it wasn't represent...
It's a common thing from AAA's this gen. Even The Witcher 3 had a huge downgrade.
@Shaggy2303
This gen we saw a major increase in the size of games. Say what you want about the Switch's 32gb but 500gb and even 1TB is not enough for this gen so what should we expect for next? Lockhart will likely have the ability to play Xbox One games through BC so it's probably included as an option for people who want to download those titles from a backlog or GP. 1TB is definitely a good starting point for next gen although i feel it won't be enough.
"no, Sony understands that MS is going for the casual gamer, the facebook/cellphone casual gamer."
Really? You think the cellphone gamer are their target? Are you stuck in 2010 and where we're having debates about tablets destroying game consoles? Hate to break it to you but both Sony and MS target the same sort of casual gamer for their systems. Your typical FIFA, Madden, COD and Battlefield fans are the casuals they're most interested in getting to buy t...
@BrettAwesome
I said to tell me why the gameplay sucks and it seems you're the first to fail. Congratulations!
"But along comes guys like you, with your wallets wide open like gaping a**holes. And so EA remains right on top of the throne of mediocrity."
You're saying this at a time when everyones jumping on Apex Legends. Meanwhile I'm here and haven't touched a single BR game, lol. It's cool though because ...
@chocoburger
Yeah they did. Name the top tier Sony games on the Vita and when they came out. You'll see that Nintendo was far better in both quantity and quality of releases for the Wii U when you look at what they released.
That is exactly what follows if you think your statement is true.
So what your saying MS is prioritising GP in their new business model despite it not being successful? Lolwut.
So what you're saying is MS moving to make Game Pass a major part of their business model despite it being in low demand? Does Steam have tons of sales because PC gamers aren't buying games? Is it the same for Sony flash sale? The model your economics class is teaching seems to be predicting the end of the gaming industry because it looks like everything's in low demand.
It really makes the article look like a joke. It's like saying why doesn't Splatoon 2 look as good as Zelda running on Cemu in 4k. The 3ds screen was effectively 240p and we have an article claiming that an HD system looks barely any better than a game that ran at 240p. The author of the piece needs to seriously rethink how they do research... sorry I assumed he did research.
"there is no reason for the game to visually look this bad, compare it to Pokemon battle revolution on the Wii, it looks identical."
This is a flat out lie. So if it looks identical it's unclear which game is the better looking right? There's a clear difference and if you can't see it then I don't want to see you in any article talking about resolution or frame rate until your eyesight has been checked out.

Thing is people seem to be unwilling to actually acknowledge that the core gameplay is good. The games story is average, level variation is minimal, and is lacking in content but it's entirely possible for people to overlook that if the core gameplay is actually worth your time.
What I think we're really seeing is a denial from people criticizing the game and being unwilling to acknowledge that this game has even some value. If the game is so bad its beyond redempti...
@DJ
True but the article only said modern Nintendo games so to me you can include anything from up to say 2-3 years ago so Echoes counts. But I think you were trying to limit your list to Switch game so fair enough.
"You should just stop talking. You came back 15 hours later to respond with that weak dodge?"
Forgive me for not being so timely in my responses old chap ಠ_ರೃ. I apologize for making you feel neglected during those 15 hours.
Your comment was a defence of Jin_Sakai by saying he didn't miss the point so I gave you a nice paragraph simply explaining the model that all of the big 3 (more or less) follow. The reason I don't need to respond is...
