"ok, but why isn't it the right thing to do?"
Why isn't it right for a platform owner to dictate to developers which can or can't do crossplay? Because they're merely a platform provider and it would mean we're okay with them dictating to 3rd parties what their vision for their own product should be. The choice of crossplay should be the developers, not the publisher or platform owner.
@Tracey
So costly that it's free on PC. Thank you for confirming you're going to be a corporate slave though.
@Tracey
No that is a statement if fact. Otherwise you agree that MS, Sony and Nintendo have the right to double the cost of their online services, and that they're in the right for doing so.
@RPGSama
And I'm responding to what you said where you said "Once every game by every developer is being built for a common subscription service and that's the only way for you to get to gaming in general, quality will decrease", I'm just responding to that.
Having the right does not make it right to do.
"Once every game by every developer is being built for a common subscription service and that's the only way for you to get to gaming in general"
Okay but no one is promoting this as a realistic future in gaming. At this point you're comparable to a person a decade ago throwing a fit about digital purchases destroying physical games and saying that an all digital future is going to to destroy gaming as we know it.
Your scenario hasn'...
I mean you joke about that but it was a legitimate argument that pre-paid cards last gen had unnecessary packaging. The plastic case was a waste because it went in the bin almost immediately because there was no use for it after using the card.
Honestly, most games that release these days are not worth the full price at launch. So in a way I agree with the sentiment of the article. Time for a more varied price range with AA/AAA games at launch.
@Teflon02
Comparing Sunset to an EA game that had clear mismanagement? Nothing wrong with this comparison at all is there, lol?
I don't think it's ironic because I don't think their intent was to keep Sony away from the IP. I think Insomniac just wanted to own their shit because there is a degree of instability when you allow the publisher to own the IP. Unfortunately they ended up getting a worse experience from other publishers like EA. Sunset was good game though but again it was somewhat limited in being an exclusive at the time. Had it been a multiplat I think it would've seen a lot more success. ...
"I said the article aged badly because the games no longer have that issue"
Dude, the article was published on the 16th. It's not even had a chance to age.
"still have the problem also that Xbox games get review bombed the worst out of all console exclusives and maybe the author should expand on those issues too rather than writing an article that makes it seem like Switch games get review bombed the worst out of all other consoles when...
It's actually pretty clever artistically. I don't know if I've ever seen anything like that done before so you're way off base with your criticism.
They literally had images in the article for you to see that there is proof it got review bombed. I think you just revealed yourself as having not read the article, lol.
I will say I'm in the same boat. With that said I wouldn't say it means retail sales are not important, but they're definitely not the only factor in determining if a title is successful.
An opinion can be poorly supported. He makes only two arguments and offers barely any support for them. The graphics are bad because he couldnt damage the environment and the ending is bad. That's literally it.
Let's say he's right about everything he said in this article. Let's be that generous and say the points he made could not be refuted... He doesnt once mention gameplay, co-op or multiplayer. His entire opinion is based on the Campaign, but tries to e...
"Well I never complained about the lack of ol Gears characters in Gears 4"
Right, it's the vagina in Gears 5 that gets you riled up lol.
Only for a Kojima game, would we ever get a defense for a puff piece like this in gaming.
"I am not saying these features or game is for me, but, I like developers trying new stuff in games. It moves the industry forward success or failure."
Having the player character react in a way that breaks the fourth wall is not new. There's nothing wrong with details like this, but that's literally all the game has been so far. Even the boss fight was mostly walking while the ai gave no shits about trying to kill the player.
"Man I'm really enjoying Gears 5. The gameplay is polished, the new modes are good, the single player tried some new stuff. Overall The Coalition did a really good job-"
"EXCUSE ME!!!?!?! CAN I BLOW PART OF THIS BENCH UP LIKE IN GEARS 2?"
"... I'm not 100% sure but I don't think so-"
"WHAT?!?!? THIS GAME IS TRASH"
That was literally the video you posted. Amazing how ...
You're aware that not even GOTY contenders do things that "no other game has done before". Also you know thats not what the OC claimed, right? He said new for the series.
Did The Witcher 3 do anything mind blowing that no other game had done before? No. Dragon Age: inquisition? No. Overwatch? No. BotW? No. God of War? No.
I guess this standard isn't very good when actually apply it, huh....
