Everyone is questioning the PS brand after the 1st qtr report but in all seriousness, if you have followed Sony's financial report from this gen. You will know that :even if" the PS division was profitable from the beginning of the PS3.
It will still not be able to cover all the loses of Sony's TV division.
This type of end/doom questioning should not be aimed at the PS division but on their TV division because quite frankly that one division is...
If its going to have a download version (which I think it will), you will only need to get another memory card. So you can access any EU PSN.
You just need to do this if you wish to transfer between PSN region: http://www.ign.com/wikis/ps...
Sega, you have to give Shenmue a proper ending. This series and its fans deserves it.
Shenmue 3 will always be on my wish list, till it happens.
A lot of Vita news and some PS3 news but less Wonderbook.
Sony should really bundle the 4GB memory card outright. How will they entice the consumers to use the Vita as a portal for PSN, if the consumer needs to pay for a memory card on the get go.
The ordinary consumers will only look at that as an extra cost but with a free 4GB memory card already bundled, they will look at it instead as an option to enlarge their storage capacity.
I agree with the sentiments, that consumers needs to get more bang for their money with the current price range, like bundling every PS Vita sales with a 4GB memory card. That should be standard.
Instead of bringing the price of the Vita, bring the price of the memory cards down instead. That would then entice gamers to buy a bigger memory card and keep their free 4GB as an extra for either storage or use it for different PSN region.
Sony can also try bundli...
Yes!, Bamco take my cold hard earned money now!
Yes, please let it be a sequel :)
I think it would be best to listen to Bloomberg or other reputable business news group when it comes to corporate finances.
@Captain,
Yeah, Sony didn't do the Vita any favor by putting Wonderbook up front during E3. I realize what they are trying to do there but not having any time for the Vita during E3 was just not right.
It was just too much Wonderbook.
And I think what Sony should do first before a price cut, is bundle 4GB memory cards with the purchase of every Vita. Instead of having the customer pay extra for it. At least they should try that out.
Your trying to put a region lock on the Vita when there is none. You can play other regional games on your Vita even if your PSN account is of a different region.
Your trying to put region restriction for online content and complete region lock in the same sentence. There is a difference.
You know as much as I do. Region lock prevents you in playing anything from other regions. That includes the physical media, unless you jailbreak the device.
Those memory cards will drop in price down the line. Its the nature of not only the console business but the tech business as a whole. So in the end, it won't be an issue.
But the main thing is, there is no region lock on the Vita. I just wanted to make that clear. So the people not in the know won't get the wrong information.
@Captain
Most of us (core gamers) have the patience to wait for a price cut, better retail offerings and more games. Aside for the rest of us (including me) who are early adopters.
Mostly its the casual market that buys a product at full price without knowing what it offers (and mostly because its popular right now).
So we'll see how it goes for the Vita in the following months. The 3DS was put in a similar doom and gloom scenario not so...
I've seen a lot of companies do worse than Sony and still survived. Sony is a big company to just keel over and die.
Will they lose market share while all of this is happening, sure. Can they regain some of it in the future, yes.
Besides this article is only taking aim at the PS division when the freaking TV division is more than likely to be the one being closed down. Not even all the profits made by the PS division this gen. can cover the loses of thei...
This is just silly now.
When the PS division makes money the focus will turn on how badly the entire company makes. When the PS division loses money at a tail end of a generation and barely a year of the release of their handheld device, they get this.
There is no win for Sony either way.
I hope I don't see this type of doom and gloom bonanza when the Wii U is released later this year. This kind of articles are just unbelievable to say the least.
That is incorrect, you can have multiple accounts per Vita. You just need a different memory card for each account.
Here is the guide: http://www.ign.com/wikis/ps...
Nothing against anyone but I think the proper information should be shared.
Its all about the games. As long as there are enticing games, I don't see any problems.
If I was Sony, I would seriously add a free 4GB memory card first and see how that goes before doing any price cut. Since I believe Sony is going to let the retailers do those deals during the holiday, I doubt they will do a price cut.
Maybe this December when the Vita reaches its 1st year of release in Japan. Maybe.
We all know that 4GB is not enough but I am taking into account that Sony needs to make a profit. So I am trying to balance the business side of things to the consumers point of view.
That is why Sony should make the 4GB a standard for now. Then they can change it to a bigger memory card with the later revisions.
It just has to start somewhere and not having any free memory card to begin with will not appeal to the casual consumer.
