I just became a member myself (doing 1 month trial right now) I have to say those free full games really made my day.

Sadly, every hit these doom and gloom article makes, gives them money.

That's why you see them prevalent before a console launch and during the times a console gets through a rough period.

I know right, they didn't even caught the thief. The thief even had the gall to claim he works for Xbox.

Sorry for the spoilers but the title is very misleading.

Exactly, the 3DS was nearly in a similar situation before the price drop and what's really funny is back then when the 3DS was at $249, the complaint is about the lack of games for the first few months and not the price tag. People have short term memories.

But the other problem is Sony really failed to make a proper transition from the PSP to the PSV. Not tech wise but game wise.

I mean, in Japan the biggest market of handhelds still strongly supports t...

How can this be Sony's last generation, when the PS4 (or whatever they want to call it) is already being developed... and Kaz Hirai has already stated that the gaming division will be at the forefront of their strategy in getting back to profitability.

Was there some sort of misunderstanding there or something? Because I think the author is gravely ill-informed in all of this.

"While the article brings up some valid points I feel as though it only tells half the story and that’s a problem. Also this is your streotypical doom and gloom article about Sony and the PS3 that have been going on since the system launched."

Thank you for pointing that out, that is what some of us have been saying all this time. A lot of these doom and gloom articles does not tell the entire story on why Sony is struggling NOR do they even point out what Sony is t...

Don't get me wrong. I like Sony's plans for those divisions you have mentioned. I think its a step in the right direction.

BUT!

Nothing what you said has anything to do with turning around the biggest egg in Sony right now and that is their "TV division". Where are the concrete plans to make that single bleeding division profitable again?

And all the profits of those divisions you mentioned will not cover the loses of a sing...

Platinum games already promised something like that won't happen again and all their games after that proved that they are a company of their words (so-to-speak) ^^

Yeah too much doom and gloom every time a console or handheld is announced, you think they want everything released by the Big 3 to fail or something.

I think Sony will let the retailers do the deals this holiday but they won't lower the price of the PS3 until next year, probably the same time as the Vita but not before.

Sony is going for profit per console instead of quantity and hoping the software sales will off set the lost. I think at this point in time the later is more riskier than the former with the down trend in software sales and all that.

If Sony wants to save money, then they should do something about the division that's been bleeding them money and got them into this situation in the first place.

Yes, I'm pointing at the TV division. Its no secret that even if the PS division was profitable at the launch of the PS3 that the loses of the TV division will still be too great to overcome.

Cut that division or restructure it by getting its manufacturing plant out of Japan. Be price compet...

Another article that does not really underline the real problem with Sony.

Stop looking at the PS brand, its Sony's last remaining bread and butter right now.

If you want to look at the problems within the company, you can look no further than their TV division (which is bleeding money) and their under performing PC and MP3 brands.

One division cannot save the entire company. The PS division can only do so much.

^How I wish you guys are right. I can only hope, it took years for my country to even get 1MBPS as standard and in an available price.

You can add Valkyria Chronicles 2, .Hack//Link, Tales of Vesperia (PS3), Tales of Innocence R and FF Type-0 to that list.

But I never knew Bravely Default had no localization date o_O

Well it is an Xbox site, so I guess no PS3 only JRPGs were mentioned. ^^;;;

Lost Odyssey and Tales of Vesperia are easily some of the best RPGs this gen. :)
