I'm getting a little tired of the double-standard the Video Game industry and Game "journalists" are creating among the Video Game fans. If you buy the DLC to support the company or pay for a pre-order, you're just "playing into the Developers hands, giving them the ability to do whatever they want". Something happens in a game like Mass Effect 3 controversy (and the recent Capcom DLC-already-on-the-disk controversy), gamers raise negative opinions and thoughts, ...
I really do forgot that dry sarcasm on N4G just doesn't quite work out in the end! Dang it
...thank you to the 4 that agreed.
I guess the 3 that disagreed are too 18 and have an awful "internet" name. Sorry.
Here's a synopsis of the article:
It's written by an 18 year old with the term "Rdawg" in his name.
Not the most professional source of integrity and respect.
Move on, nothing to see here.
I get why she's annoyed, but when did companies start suddenly laying down the hammer telling gamers what they should and shouldn't "enjoy"?
With the Mass Effect Franchise, Call of duty franchise, world of Warcraft, Uncharted series, Killzone series, Halo series, Gears of War series, Battlefield series, Batman Arkham series, etc. etc. etc., gaming seems to be a huge marketplace for companies. Bioware, Activision-Blizzard, EA, etc. seem to be making a LOT of ...
Yes, because "spoiled generations" should just accept the way things are and not raise issues, merely shut up, by products and repeat.
Nevermind the fact that there are polls, beta testing, demos, etc...almost as if the gaming industry WANTS our input.
If they don't want our input, get rid of all that, talk about the game maybe twice (announcement that you're making it & the announcement that it's out), release it and move on to the ...
I think a lot of anger/resentment/annoyonce going towards Bioware is because of a major reason:
Confusion.
When Mass Effect 2 was released, people received Day 1 DLC For free, got a great, polished campaign with intrigue and a stellar ending that paved the way for a potentially awesome Third game. Not to mention some really great DLC (Shadow Broker, the Arrival) that, to me, made what DLC is SUPPOSED TO BE - cool content after the game that expands the s...
Okay, this DEFINITELY sounds like Assassin's Creed III - a worthy sequel to a good franchise.
While I love the franchise, Brotherhood and Revelations felt more like expansion packs trying to milk a little more out the property.
However, Assassin's Creed III sounds like they're doing what made Assassin's Creed II a phenominal game. Can't wait for more information to come!
No, "Boomstick" is a reference to the movie Evil Dead - Army of Darkness, where the main character - Ash - referred to his gun as a "Boomstick".
He time-traveled back to Mideval Times; he assumed that would be the best way to describe a gun.
**end needless explanation**
I heard about other Mass Effect 3 DLC:
Purchase SW:TOR from Origin and receive a free N7 Lightsaber.
Purchase Battlefield 3 from Origin and receive the N7 Jet.
Purchase Sims 3: Mideval and receive a free X4 Axe melee weapon!
...seriously, is this what the Mass Effect franchise has come to? Day 1 DLC, smartphone game additions, facebook links, etc etc etc.
How about this: Here's the game. Enjoy ...
Here's the announcement:
Assassin's Creed: Revelations is 50% on Steam. Saved myself lots 'o money waiting for this expansion pack/mediocre creation.
You may all go back to your homes!!!!!!
You're right Ulf, why should any of us feel like we're getting what's completed right out of the box?
And you're right too that beer & smoking is MUCH more expensive.
Such quality arguments like this prove that paying this much is completely okay and we should continue shelling out more money.
Hey, gas is probably going to be $5 a gallon soon, but according to you, it's not really a necessity and we should be happy it&...
Sure, this is a great medium.
Hey, how about when you purchase a new car, we make the built-in factory Radio/CD player an additional option for $20? Sure, when you ORIGINALLY purchased cars, the factory radio was a given without extras, but since you're driving it off the lot now, pay us $20.
I'm kinda surprised how convoluted this argument has become. Let's review: The game is coming on out MARCH 6. In order to play everything that's releas...
Quoted from the article:
"Right now the video game industry is unique in how open and honest it is with both its media and its consumers. Unfortunately, the most successful companies are the least forthcoming. If we want developers to keep listening to us, we need to start listening to them, and we need to start talking more, and screaming less."
So the underdogs who can get crushed in an instant are nice and the major organizations like EA & ...
I kinda disagree with your point about gamers being "spoiled self entitled kids".
The major issue here I think is what happened with Mass Effect 2. If you bought the game when it came out, you got the Cerberus Network - including a free companion, a couple of weapons/armor and a quick planet to explore. Nothing amazing, but a nice little "thank you for buying the game at launch and here's a little token of our appreciation".
Now ...
"...but that's just the way the world is." - Fuzrum
There you have it, the crux of all garbage arguments. Instead of debating whether or not this will have a negative or positive impact on the future of gamer's rights and game economics, let's just chalk it up to "that's the way it is so deal with it".

SOMEBODY apparently was sitting around, thinking he wasn't getting enough attention so SOMEBODY decided to write a useless, pretend-to-be-annoyed article to facilitate said attention.
Yuck to him and Yeesh to his awful article. Please delete it from the internet ASAP.
This guy doesn't like mentioning that he's in a committed relationship.....
HE LOVES IT!
Alright, we get it, geeks can have relationships too, it's not that far-fetched anymore. hehe
This type of article infuriates me.
Imagine if we all in today's society decided to allow bugs and glitches enter our everyday lives. Maybe your brand new car doesn't start up all the time during the week? How about your brand new coffee pot occassionally just stops working? How about your Bank account will randomly misplace your direct deposit?
"Sorry about your money, but hey, OTHER people are experiencing other problems so deal with it!&q...
The attached document is merely showing logically-speaking why the ending doesn't quite work with the entire franchise.
I played all 3 games and loved them all, however I do agree the ending was a bit off. I'm not demanding Bioware change the ending, but I can't just disregard a disappointing / slapped-together ending that's supposed to end the trilogy.
It felt like a term paper that we've all written - by the time the conclusion arrives, ...
