"Once the game ships and is officially on the market as a final piece of code that can be purchased as version 1.0 so to speak, the developer said its peace and shipped the game – now we can review the game all we want."

...interesting concept. Unfortunately, Early Access games have absolutely 0% REQUIREMENTS to be "Finished". If a developer wants to leave it in a perpetual "Alpha", "beta", etc. or just entirely give up on it, they ca...

I think the amount is going to be an issue in the long run.

If steam machines are supposed to be these "plug and play" devices that almost mirrors today's console market, having a ton of options just makes them a PC gaming rig.

My PC gaming machine is at a desk because that's what I prefer. A PC attached to my living room TV? Sounds tempting, however if SteamOS isn't going to be as intuitive/popular as Xbox Live or PS Network then Stea...

Even though Gabe's hopes for Steam machine domination may seem high, never underestimate a possible underdog.

Back in the day, Nintendo vs. Sega was the end-all be-all of console wars that seemed like a never-ending battle. Would you have believed at the time eventually Sega would leave the console market & Nintendo would just quietly float along while SONY & MICROSOFT WOULD BECOME THE DOMINANT CONSOLES?

Before the PS4 & XBox One I would have...

How about everyone just use what they prefer and stop being all self-righteous about it.

If there's anything worse than a PC vs. Console debate, it's a Controller vs. KB/Mouse debate. Who gives enough of a crap to be mad at someone using a different mode of character manipulation?

...apparently a lot of people with either too much free time on their hands or gamers who love to screw with people.

I'm hoping for the former.

As a PC gamer, I've decided NOT to support "Early Access" games and here's why:

When I pay money for a product, I expect that product to meet a certain amount of guidelines in order for me to even consider giving my hard-earned money to a company.

Now, are a lot of "Early Access" games honest about the State of their game?

...to a point, yes.

However, let's look at 2 major IP's that garnere...

I'm going to say something potentially unpopular.

I'm glad EA is getting sued and I wouldn't mind if DICE caught some of the flack for this as well.

DICE has made great contributions to the FPS universe with large-scale FPS Multiplayer games that improved both gameplay and graphical aspects of this genre.

That being said: I put in quite a few hours into Battlefield 3 and I can say ultimately the game was just okay. Sure, the grap...

Well, I think we all know who to thank for this horrifying debacle.

Ourselves!

Let me explain: I'm not saying we somehow created this unforseen event in our videogaming lives, however our apathy and idiotic, mob-like mentality doesn't bode well for our digital future.

Do you know the one thing I've learned from the NSA scandal? Governments AND Corporations can do really screwed up things to us and eventually we'll just shrug ...

I really want to take your word for it.

After the debacle that was Assassin's Creed III however, I'm just too afraid to take that risk.

As a PC gamer, I would give the edge to Playstation 4 even before reading the article.

Reason being: UBISoft is NOTORIOUS for unoptimized, glitchy, flawed PC games and then acting like they don't exist.

Looks like someone is playing damage control after telling everyone optimization isn't that big of a deal and the @^!%@$!$ that was Assassin's Creed 3 for the PC.

Talk is cheap. I'll believe it when I see it....which will be when Steam chops that price by at least HALF. That's their penance for allowing me to buy Assassin's Creed 3 Beta version without ever fixing it!

I remember Assassin's Creed III having great graphics for the PC...

Except for the fact that the major cities (Boston & New York City) slowed to a crawl due to poor optimization. It was never fixed.

How About this: Forget showing off your amazing graphics - make sure the actual game RUNS SMOOTHLY!

Welcome to N4G!

They're apparently a requirement! =)

LOL Nintendo isn't competition anymore!

Tee-hee-hee!

(Don't hit me!)

Well, I guess after reading all of the comments here, the lesson is:

If you're not SONY or Microsoft releasing a gaming machine then you're already screwed.

Lesson learned. Never try. Don't compete. Just accept the industry standard. Got it.

Flame on!

For those that are saying "This is just buying a PC and attaching it to your TV"...

You're absolutely right.

HOWEVER....

We are a pretty dumb society. When our information was being uploaded on databases, we trembled in fear and raised our anger at having our personal, private information stored onto company servers!!!!!

Then, the "Cloud" came along...

Suddenly, EVERYTHING was okay! ...

They ACTUALLY balance the game so that I don't have ANOTHER Battlefield game where either my team is decimating the other team or I'm going up against an advanced alien race with sticks & rocks (AKA we're getting killed).

Remember people, the keyword is:

LIBRARY.

So that means if you share your LIBRARY with someone else, they can only play a game on YOUR LIBRARY when you are not using it.

If you decide to play a game on your steam LIBRARY, then your friend is NOT CAPABLE OF PLAYING ANY OF YOUR GAMES.

The problem with the Mass Effect franchise is the way it speaks as a metaphor for Bioware itself.

The ending of the third and final Mass Effect game introduced a Deus Ex Machina in a big way that came out of right field - no explanation, no lead-up to the actual event. This threw a lot of gamers (including myself) for a loop because Bioware had been so careful to craft a meticulously detailed narrative that didn't fall into trite and mediocre story elements.

I want to preface this comment with the information that I am a 31 year old PC gamer who owns a Wii and over time owned a nintendo, super nintendo and a Playstation 1.

That being said, I think the hatred with Nintendo stems from their sometimes baffling decisions that they've made throughout their tenure as a video game company. The Nintendo and Super Nintendo were amazing advancements in technology, gameplay, graphics, sound, storylines, etc. that were marveled by fans ...
