No multiplayer..in a single player game... that is correct. Why would that be confusing...to anyone?
Large scale battles do happen. Your ship states: "Battle Detected" just like it does when there is a "Bounty" out on a pirate that can be taken down for a large sum of credits.
Inventory is still upgradeable "horrible" 3 seperate inventories: one for your suit, one for your ship and one for your multitool.
I love when people claim a game is a "Tech Demo." That way you can instantly tell that they have no idea what they are talking about and a hint that they never even played the game.

Nothing wrong with inventory. You upgrade your suit inventory, ship inventory, and multitool inventory by playing the game. That is part of it.
That's awesome. Usually they have at least one slot more than the one you have....free awesome ship with a bit of grinding.
