Yes exactly. Also games are rated based on platform - if a PS3 game had DS graphics you'd expect it to score pretty low - but a DS game with decent (for DS) graphics could be heavily praised for that. A game that got a 10 years ago for being "a graphical powerhouse", "innovative", "fresh", "original", then it wouldn't hold a candle to a game with the same compliments today.
I don't think anybody else has given such a harsh review of LBP as ...
Doesn't matter what Fable 2 gets at meta, it's already proven to be a major hit and has lived up to expectations. Whatever "AAA" means I don't know but it would probably fall under that category.
Variety review of LBP is a joke though.
No it's Variety who are the fanboys. 80/100 is pretty generous based on what Variety said in their review. "This game suxxx bcuz u hav 2 pay 4 it lolOLOL!1112!`"
It's fake OMG how can anyone believe this? This got APPROVED?
It's the TONE of the Variety review that's to blame. If anything Metacritic were being kind. If you say something like:
"There's every reason to believe "LittleBigPlanet" will have at least some decent creators and even a few extraordinary ones"
That's putting the fact that there were, even in the beta, a wide array of quality user-created levels, in a way that makes it seem like good levels will be few and far between. "At least some" i...
Here's what I said about the Variety review - they were pretty harsh:
Wow they are Xbots or something,
'"LittleBigPlanet" has one big disadvantage compared with YouTube, however, in that just sampling the wares requires a $400 Playstation 3 and $60 game. For the vast majority who won't be creators, buying into "LittleBigPlanet" will require either a major leap of faith or strong word of mouth about all the community has to offer.'
OK ...
Why didn't they delay it? The beta was this bad, they could surely have extended the beta and delayed the game a month to fix at least some of these problems!
OK disagreers - you think that snake being "pressed" up against a wall when actually there was a bug so he was 2 feet away from almost every wall was a good thing?
Or you think that MGS4 was shorter than the average game (even a SPEED RUN is challenging to get under 5 hours - compare with Halo 3 where it's around an hour and a half)?
Or you think there WEREN'T issues with difficulty? Where's my European Extreme mode? Why is it FAR, FAR too easy to just igno...
Have to disagree with you there. If you didn't get the storyline, that's probably why you didn't enjoy the cutscenes. My gripes with the game were those of difficulty balancing mostly. Some of the cutscenes were _intentionally_ long, and I wouldn't have been satisfied with a shorter finale. The controls were practically perfect - I take enormous issue with the fact that snake didn't hide up against a wall like he always used to, and instead decides to press against the wall but around 2 feet ...
Well they managed to get it on some major news channels. I'd say that's quite a bit of publicity. They've never advertised games as much as MS have with Halo 3, Gears of War, and it's really a shame, especially for online games. Wipeout HD and Warhawk, for instance, whilst being some of the best games on PS3, haven't sold a million copies (Warhawk player count is 700,000 and very few of those are actually active players). I think Warhawk's still going strong, but the number of servers seems t...
Yeah it's kind of funny - this was the one of the few games/services that hasn't ever been delayed, it goes gold over a month before release, then some complaining muslims (of all people) end up delaying the game. Looking at the facts more closely, I can see that there would have been no problem releasing the game. The song was by a muslim artist, and had been publicly available on a record label for 2 years I believe.
If I recorded a song, it was perfectly acceptable, and I got ...
This is what the game deserves for being basically what MS1 should have been. You could tell it was going to be the same when they were trying oh so hard to hype up the fact they'd added a monster truck. A great fun racing game just like its predecessor.
I also feel the same way about scores for other rehashed sequels. They don't seem to get the same treatment, though, for some reason - how different is PES this year compared to last? Madden? You get my point.
Retro graphics, sound, gameplay.
Next-gen pricing.
No it's not delayed again - the oct 31st was a guess by some retailers. It's only a few more days!
It is obvious that MGS4 was not tremendously compressed (because it only used 33Gb out of 50, and there's no reason to compress stuff when it doesn't fill up the disk anyway), however it required the 50Gb blu-ray so it needed at least 25Gb for sure. So MGS4 could fit on 3 or 4 DVDs. I think that the issue which everyone seems to overlook is the installs. Now perhaps the installs were just there to reduce the insanely long loading times, but installed game>streamed from DVD>streamed from...
"The news that Konami is looking to bring Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots out on the Xbox 360 platform"
Flamebait and WTF?
How is Snow's name any less lame than Cloud's? And are they dropping a subtle hint to something? Cloud??!??!?!?

Wouldn't you want to at least, you know, try it out? For free? See if it really IS generic and a mess? No because you don't have a PS3.
They are only counted on Metacritic if they are in English.
