Does anyone actually still play MGO?

Even when it had just launched, only 2 of the lobbies were ever full...

SCE London Studios have dropped the ball this gen.

Singstar PS3 - Delayed, no bluetooth mics, singstore took a while to get going.
Eight Days - Cancelled
The Getaway - Cancelled
Home - Delayed, missing features, still not in open beta

EyePet - Now this one's too early to call. But look at their PS3 track record so far...

Looked VERY early in development to me. They were still toying around with the basic mechanics of the game. It looks like it had potential; but then it would have been a couple of years off at the earliest. It's obvious they only just started development and that trailer from years ago was pre-rendered by some other studio.

I'm sad that it was cancelled, but it was too early in development to tell whether it would be a great game - and we wouldn't have seen it for a while anyway....

When you say "technology", what do you mean? The only thing this guy was showing off was his animation skills. Nothing you saw there had any revolutionary tech - it was just using mocap and animation like any other game. Most of the tech would have been VERY specific to that game, as well as all the specific animations/character models/environments.

Whilst I am disappointed that 8 Days was cancelled, it looks as though it was still in the very early stages of developmen...

I want to see GTA5 freshen up the game. In each successive installment since 3, I got bored quicker and quicker just because I'd seen it all before. I couldn't even be bothered to complete San Andreas. I want to see attention to detail in general terms of believability, without just adding in gimmick features like haircuts.

But of course I agree. GTA3 was a huge leap ahead of GTA2 (which was awesome to begin with), yet since then, we've not seen a major step forwards, and some wo...

You can post a sticker of something "inappropriate", report it with the "Good Grief" tool, and if MM don't check out the level itself, they could see that and then remove the level. The lack of communication is what really annoys me. If he'd been told, and then had some sort of appeal procedure, that would be more fair.

LBP wasn't out until November in EU... not to mention that, due to the delays, people probably didn't know when it was coming out. There were even adverts which got the date wrong! So for this game, people will buy it when it appears because the whole release was botched.

Where are the gifs that depict what happens when you throw a grenade at the other 99% of the level? (i.e. no destruction at all)

Still, I am very impressed with how it looks when something IS destructible. Considering I didn't believe destructibility was in the MP at all, this is impressive.

I don't think the destructibility is going to be tremendous compared to what we've seen before. The presentation of it, sure, it will look fantastic when things crumble to the ground etc. - but most things will not be destructible and there will only be the odd pillar placed here and there that will be (as far as I can see).

Not to mention the spelling/grammar mistakes in that article are pretty bad...

Not really; you see all the times the camera cut? That's where he died and edited it out ;)

Yeah I know it's an old build - but I think TBH the graphics at the moment are where I want them. I want them now to focus on:
Fixing bugs
Listening to beta feedback and implementing changes
Implementing co-op in the game
Getting lots of content in terms of SP campaign length and MP maps
Getting the AI right in SP, making the SP seem less scripted

Game looks beyond awesome (and apparently it holds up even on a big TV) so these are the things I would ...

Edge magazine is really getting shown up here.

Even in this short review they managed a lengthy paragraph for each of competitive and co-operative multiplayer.

In Edge's review, the competitive got a sentence, and the co-operative got called "partially successful" in its short paragraph.

Oh well, opinions, opinions. Edge's "opinion" is that TEH 360 IZ TEH BETSZ! And that TEH PS3 SUXXORS HAZ NO GAMEZ LUUK WE SED SO!!!111 EVEN TEH MULTI...

Really? That's awesome if true. Watching the HD versions of these videos it still looks awesome. But many games have aliasing problems/low texture res/low poly count such that when you view it in HD it doesn't hold up. If KZ2 looks better, that means the textures are super-sharp, the aliasing is low, the characters and environments are high-poly and so it will look better in HD.

Can't wait to play it :D

is the kind of intensity I expected from a full MP map - most of the leaked beta vids so far have involved relatively few players. Looks truly awesome and seeing this in action I'm starting to get hyped for the game.

He was just saying it in a "Yeah multiplatform development is fantastic for those that do it" kind of way. Just appreciating what other studios are doing.

They have always said this kind of thing; "What other guys are doing in terms of multiplatform development is great, we have a great relationship with Sony but we're still independent."

They've done so much R&D on the PS3 it'd be a shame to waste that experience and start developing a multiplatform engine. Can't wait for the next R&C :)

LOL please don't get your hopes up for this guys - it's the cheapest way to get hits. When was the last time a webstie promised something amazing and it ended up being pretty lame? It's probably a SP preview or something. Nice, but not worth gettig exited about.

You mean Quincunx anti-aliasing? An awful lot of PS3 games. An awful lot.

6356d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

OK just because you have a great engine doesn't mean you're going to make a great looking game with it. Gears 2 has fantastic graphics with UE3, yet look at a lot of the games that use UE3 and you'll see if devs aren't much good then having an engine built for them isn't going to help. Treyarch have done a great job.

I would have bought Burnout Paradise if it had split-screen and didn't try too hard to be like GTA - I thought the whole open-worldness for a racing game was totally lame. Which is really a shame, because it's been getting a load of extra content... in fact I'm considering picking it up at some point... hmm...
