Game deserves a 10/10 in my book.
But I suppose I never played the PSP versions so all the content was fresh.
Anyway they're a bit late with their review here!
Really useful are logic gates.
I'm surprised that they weren't provided as a seperate tool because they're so useful - but of course you can always just make one and save it as an object.
It's looking good. I think this game has the potential to beat D2 - I know people are upset about the things they have changed but by keeping the camera the same, they're keeping the left-click-mashing gameplay the same, and I'm sure the other mechanics they've changed they have done so for a reason.
It's all about perfecting the gameplay and balance for Blizzard. Let's hope they can pull it off.
The thing that lets the graphics down are the clumsy animations, the clipping, the repeated zombies (surely they could be changed up a BIT?), the really bad camera angles in 3rd person, but mostly, the whole source engine look, it's hard to describe, like the environments are really low poly or something.
The PC version beats the 360 version by a mile - but only in terms of resolution and AA and stuff like that.
"vaguely disappointing platform game"
Sometimes I think that reviewers play games by themselves in a darkened room for a few hours and give their impressions after.
Actually that's probably EXACTLY what they do.
Did they play the game with other people?
How is the platforming NOT fun?
The game is simply brilliant even WITHOUT its level editor so I don't know what this review is on about personally.
Oh well...
@she00win99
What are you talking about? Zhuk has been here a lot longer than pp.
I don't think it's awesome.
What are they adding?
It's not an "area the size of San Andreas".
It's not adding in a bunch of content that fans thought were missing in GTA4.
It's adding some missions with a different character - in the same places as you've already been.
It might take a long time to complete - but it will just be more of the same, in a DMC4 "let's make more content by getting you to replay the same bits wi...
The game isn't horror...
How is it horror? It's just arcade blasting of zombies.
I fail to see a horror element.
It's "themed" with horror elements but it's as akin to horror as a LBP level with some zombies and skeletons scattered about.
Unless by horror you mean just that there are zombies ;)
Graphics should NOT get a 9 for this game. Have they actually seen what the graphics look like?
You can say it's impressive FOR the source engine, but it doesn't stop it looking bad.
You can say that the graphics don't matter as long as the game is fun but then you still shouldn't give the game a 9 in the graphics area.
Does this game really look as good/almost as good as Uncharted/Gears of War 2/MGS4/CoD4/5? No.
I'm not going to let my comp...
Isn't it a bit disrespectful to the late Mr. McRae to keep milking his franchise and selling the game with his name?
I agree with everything you said there.
Uncharted and GT5:P look great, but I'm sure the 360 could handle them given enough development time.
Gears 2 clearly has the best graphics on consoles at the moment.
And of course you are right when you say that time, effort and talent can produce a great looking game. Most of the greatness in graphics comes from nicely designed environments, characters, textures and shaders anyway ;P
I guess I'll never understand all the love for this game.
If you don't have online it's practically worthless - yet it's not sold as an online-only game.
There's a complete lack of content, and whilst the AI director does its best, the gameplay gets very repetitive for me (and OK that was the demo but I've not seen anything to suggest that the rest of the game is any different).
The graphics are awful and are somehow getting praised... (9/10 from IGN - t...
I realise that the "style" of development might cause some problems.
But devs don't change their "style" of development when they lead on PS3 - otherwise, wouldn't they have the _same_ problems when porting over to 360? Think about it. If the problems are caused soley by a difference in architecture, then wouldn't a PS3-to-360 port be just as bad as a 360-to-PS3 one?
"It's the exclusives that do prove that both systems are about on par visual...
Yes it has a different architecture. But think about it this way;
You're a developer. You are not able to get very much power out of the PS3.
You make a game on 360, using all the power you can find in the console.
You port it to PS3, and since you can't get as much power out of it the game looks worse (has issues).
Now you make the same game (from scratch) for PS3 first. It looks worse than the original, because you're not able to get as much power out of the c...
It upsets me that so many people are going to miss out on such a fantastic game. Motorstorm 2, also, doesn't deserve to be overlooked. Why would you buy _another_ guitar hero, _another_ call of duty, _another_ version of fifa and not these fantastic games?
The reason that when the PS3 is made the lead you get identical versions is because the 360 is capable of running anything that the PS3 can, whereas the PS3 is NOT capable of running everything (as smoothly) that the 360 can. It's not about getting the "power" out of the PS3. If, for a game with the PS3 as the lead, the 360 had instead been made the lead, the 360 version would look better, the PS3 version would look better BUT would have problems.
If you make something ...
I knew this would happen at some point. Some people just don't like the game - and the lack of content, the poor graphics and other issues with the game just baffle them as to how it can get 9/10s. I'm one of those people though I do respect that many people absolutely love the game and might want to give it that score... but it's lacking in content whatever way you look at it.
People take out patents just so they can claim on them - when they have no intention of actually producing the thing they have a patent for.
Silogon I usually agree with your views - on Home, on L4D, on WKC - I've read your "rants" on VGTilt and I agree with a lot of the things you say. I thought maybe that it was because you _were_ truly unbiased; but now I realise it's just because you like to:
a) Buck the trend
b) Make wild jabs
c) Get very opinionated and take everything far too far
Chill out!
My TV is only 37" :( But when we play 3- or 4-player split screen we always sit about 2 feet from the TV lol.
