Almost all my friends with 360s have had trouble with disk scratching. RROD is so widespread that this kind of article makes it seem as though it's the only problem - but it's not. The hardware is shoddy all round. But most hardware faults are not even covered by the extended warranty.
I would not be surprised if the Xbox 360 was initially designed by a 5-year-old with papier maché, pipe cleaners and sticky tape. It's about as well made.
Yeah that was my point.
It's not bad to be in beta, look at the top-right hand corner of the screen and you will see that N4G is still in beta.
But it is something that lets them excuse the bugs and lack of features in Home; "What do you expect, it's a beta!". Especially fanboys who joyfully claim that Home is out, but if anyone were to criticise it, they can use the "it's a beta" excuse as a crutch.
I've got a good idea of what's in the KZ2 beta now - I've seen each map, each game type, each weapon and now each class. Can't wait to finally play it in February.
Oh boy how I did get flamed when I said Home would release in open beta form at best this year.
Still, N4G is still in beta so there you go. Google Mail is as well. I have a feeling that Home will always be in beta, partly to reflect its incompleteness, partly to reflect the fact that it's always going to be added to.
Sorry for sounding like a troll.
I just have great difficulty explaining the problem to people.
I suspect that a lot of people have the same problem as me - and this is why the headset useage on PS3 is not as high as it could be.
I don't have a problem with the headset. I can sync it fine. I talk into it, and in the accessory settings or whatever I can see the volume meter go up and down. It works.
I also have the PSEye. That works as well. ...
WOW thanks guys for your understanding! /sarcasm
I HATE the way people think that the reason people don't talk is because of the lack of headsets.
IT
IS
NOT.
That might be a factor, but consider - an awful lot of the people who bought Warhawk _have_ a headset (it was bundled at retail). Do they use it? NO! Voice chat obviously doesn't work for a LOT of people. I don't know how you can blindly ignore this. It doesn't work for me, and despite a...
I have a headset.
I don't use it - why?
It doesn't work, well actually, the headset DOES work. I don't have ANY problems with the HEADSET. VOICE CHAT does NOT work, however. I've rarely been able to hear people online clearly. Most of the time I just hear garbled noise. DOES ANYONE ELSE GET THIS? I have asked countless times and nobody has ever responded with a solution. They just say "it must be your headset" when it doesn't work THROUGH MY TV SPEAKERS!!! ...
I know - I suppose you're right, the UE3 _now_ isn't the same UE3 as _before_. It's going to hit its limitations at some stage, though. It's always best (for the graphics at least) to have a custom-built engine for the game you're trying to produce.
I lol at fanboys who don't think Gears 2 is a tremendous graphical achievement though. And I lol at Midway for claiming to have built a game with better graphics than Gears 2 in 3 months. It probably looks good, but no doubt he's exag...
I think they are ripping us off with these. I mean, it's great to have new costumes and all, but they do charge too much for too few costumes IMO. The content packs should have more costumes in them, and maybe an exclusive level to go with that.
Do you mean graphics or gameplay? The graphics look good, but the video quality is so poor that I can't tell whether they'd actually look good in HD. Gameplay looks reasonably fun, looks like most of it is just QTEs though, followed by a stupid zoom into the guy's eye (WTF it that lol) - if the combat can be deep, challenging and rewarding it will be a good game.
I'm impressed by the cinematics, but the eye-zoom thing was cool the first time. Not the 10th time.
And they wonder why PC gaming is dying...
With copy protection like this I'd rather have a hacked copy.
And I'd much rather have it on PS3 than be lumped with this "Games for windows live" lameness.
... says a guy from Midway. How can he possibly be credible?
Furthermore, they're still using UE3 as far as I'm aware. That engine is getting old. Sure it can look better than Gears 2 which also uses UE3, but if they want to go much further, they've got to get a new engine.
Have you tried?
Of course it sucks. Fallout 3 is on PS3 as well. -Edge
Touch-screens are just a gimmick like motion control. They're not precise enough for games - I'd much rather be pressing buttons.
2nd analogue is a must though. And I agree with the TV out - but doesn't the PSP already have this? Or am I imagining things?
Therein lies the problem. Edge magazine's reviewers probably _were_ disappointed by R2, considering the hype. But that's no reason to take so many marks off. Had this game not been hyped at all, they would have been pleasantly surprised. Saying a game is overhyped is one thing, giving it a 6/10, which is usually considered pretty bad, is quite another.
Yeah COD4 is so much more awesome on PC - it gets insane especially on the smaller maps. I couldn't believe it only supported 16 players on consoles! The major drawback is lack of prestige, however. So everyone's at lvl 55 the whole time.
Agreed. It's one of the best games I have ever played. The reviews speak for this. The opinions of almost everybody who has played it speak for this.
Unfortunately, the sales don't. I don't know why people would rather play another shooter over this game. I don't know why people would buy millions more copies of "Brain Training", "Nintendogs" and "Wii Fit" over such a quality title.
But oh well if gamers can get a large amount of enjoyme...
Yeah statix
If it's rendering at 1080i native, that means it's rendering at 1920x1080 pixels native, right? But that's just 1080p if you deinterlace the signal (as it will be because I have an LCD TV).
So surely they should be claiming to run at native 1080p??!?
Even still, I agree with PS3n360. I know people who can't tell the difference between SD and HD - let alone tell what's 720p and what's 1080i. There's a huge whiff of "emperor's new clothes&...
Yeah I lost a PS2 thanks to a crummy laser. Thankfully I was able to flog it to a friend who thought he could fix it (he couldn't lol).
After that experience, I never want to buy shoddy hardware again. Now the PS2 was not nearly as bad as the 360, and my 2nd one works to this day with no problems. But RROD won't seem to go away - and even if they've significantly reduced the likelihood of it happening, there are still the other problems like disk scratching which have not been ad...
