Once I can get my d@mned internet to work and not disconnect me from PSN every 5 minutes, I'm going to give it a go and see what all the fuss is about. This is waaaay sooner than I expected, is it fake?

Yes I have always thought this - the engine is pretty amazing if you think that it's pumping out near-flawless graphics at 1080p/60fps. There's barely an aliased line, barely a polygon out of place, and the art style (yeah I know it's the same old one) is to die for. I always list when discussing graphical powerhouses.

Callahan I understand your review system. But I think you should have put a big "Play it!" at the end - rather than give it a score which, when converted to an out-of-10 scale, looks out of place, and will skew the average. The low score is still going to irritate a lot of people. And you said it yourself, you're enjoying the game and it's a contender for GOTY. So this is just skewing the user review average and trying to get more people reading the review.

Yeah it takes 5 hours if you are doing a speed run of MGS4. If you want to complete it in under 5 hours whilst doing stealth & on the hardest difficulty, it's a real challenge. Half-life 2 has been completed in an hour, Halo 3 an hour and a half. But I'll wager most people took a lot longer their first time through. It took me 22 hours to complete MGS4 on my first playthrough. It took my brother 28. That's more than 5 hours...

You obviously don't have siblings who also want to play. I can see that if all your friends have PS3s/360s and play games quite often then it's another option to play them online - but you can't do that with brothers and sisters obviously. I generally sit quite close to the TV to play - but then, it's not really that bad to watch it from afar, I mean I used to play 3- and 4-player split on a 14" TV! It's better than having friends round and taking turns for sure.

How can you POSSIBLY say that? Do you think I would rather:

a) Play split-screen with my siblings/friends when they come over
b) Convince all my friends to buy PS3s, buy another 2 PS3s and a couple more HDTVs for my house, upgrade my internet connection [which would cost an absolute bomb since my connection is the fastest I can get at the moment] so I can play online with 3 consoles at once without lag, and then play against my siblings & friends without being able to s...

KZ2 uses the cell to do some of the rendering. That's how it manages to look better than any other console game out there. The deferred rendering technique can be done on the 360, sure, but the reason it is so effective for KZ2 on the PS3 is that it lends itself easily to computing some of the graphics on the SPUs and some on the GPU. Read up about it here:

I don't really know. I think (and this is a complete guess) that they add in split-screen as a last-minute feature (remember R2 didn't have confirmed split-screen until a month before launch) and as such they can't be bothered to change the aspect ratios and set up all the weapons etc. so that they look right on a different sized screen. If they do it this way, simply shrinking the view and not changing the aspect ratio, they don't have to worry about much - it will just look right and they w...

I don't see WTF is wrong with using the entire screen. Why not have it like it always was? With one player on top, and the other on the bottom. Too much effort is it? Wipeout had great split-screen and it didn't need to shrink each person's view. It's hard enough to see as it is, why do I want the screen shrunk even more? It makes zero sense. It's not like it's really even an advantage online (if that's the reason) because it's a bigger advantage to be able to see someone else's screen. There...

Yeah Raiden redeemed himself in MGS4. But in MGS2 he was a complete girl lol. They had to work reeeeal hard to earn Raiden's respect back from fans but they sorta succeeded.

BTW props to Figboy for having a sense of humour ;)

If Raiden isn't a woman I would be surprised. "She" certainly isn't a man:

Yeah but the JETPACK expansion [Fallen Star] was released this year. I don't seriously think an expansion pack can get GOTY though lol! (oops looks like I just destroyed Halo 3: Recon's chances at GOTY '09)

I will admit I had my reservations at first. It was only caution though because I hadn't seen enough of the game to pass judgement. I still have some concerns; but every time I see the game another one of my concerns disappears. AI, for instance, whilst I have seen a couple of glitches, is at times seems VERY intelligent, and can overcome the player by sheer tactics alone.

I honestly believe they've played this wonderfully. Aside from that trailer way back when, they've shown Kil...

It's not all free, only 1 is free as a teaser, the other 9 you have to pay for.

And they haven't made it especially clear... the pay-for DLC might not be exclusive. The free one is PS3 exclusive however.

YES Warhawk FTW - in fact JETPACKS FTW!

That expansion was the best yet. I was dubious at first (because you can fly with the flag in a jetpack) but you soon realise it's really balanced. Tau Crater is one of the best maps too.

Worthless single-player
Short co-op campaign
Few stats/unlocks/rank up options etc. to keep people playing
Graphics are poor; good for a source engine game but that's not saying much when you release near Gears 2 and KZ2 is around the corner
AI director tries to keep the experience fresh, but in the end, there is so little variety in gameplay that it will get boring for a lot of people after a while. The AI of the zombies, whilst probably realistic for zombies, is not ...

I wasn't saying Home was bad.

I was simply saying that it is certainly NOT what it could have been.

The features that were most hyped up (most notably 3D trophies) are not in Home at all.

However you spin that one, it is still a true fact.

6338d ago 2 agree1 disagreeView comment

Jenzo very good point and that's the main reason why I have reservations about Home. I mean, if Home was seamlessly integrated in some way into the XMB, you could seamlessly launch into all games through it, etc. etc. then it might rival some of the features found in NXE. As it is, all it offers is a stand-alone app that not everybody is going to use; whereas avatars, whilst they don't offer the same thing, everyone has to use them.

If people can only realise, that Home is NOT al...
