Uh... a 17.7 mill base isn't exactly a big world. Come on... the first xbox had a bigger world of 24 million. If that's your idea of a big world... stay in it.
Oh ya... 33% of that 17.7mil is outta commission... so 11.68 mill is the real size? oh wow... that sounds almost like... almost like the PS3 base size.
Hahaha MS xbox360 a Porsche. Where did you get those data points to "objectively" come to that conclusion? I don't think Porsche would appreciate your 16-33% failure rate comparison to a finely tuned (much more) reliable automobile that is the Porsche. Everything about the low cost components used in the xbox360 reminds me of a kia or a daewoo lol. yeah for the cost you can buy 5 of them compared to a Porsche, but just thinking about maintenance upkeep costs.... As for Sony Ps3...
This game is not deserving of an 8. I played the demo with my buddy after we played Warhawk. The comparison of warhawk to frontlines is like water to molasses. The maps are huge alright in Frontlines. We spent like 5 minutes trying to run from one point to the next cuz we were either on a no-vehicles map (??!!) or all vehicles were taken. The sniper rifle in frontlines is literally next to useless (multiply this by dying at the front and taking 5 minutes to run back to the frontlines and ...
I have to agree with the review that the plot is a bit paper thin. When my buddy and I hopped on to coop game last night it felt like a generic shooter at first until toward the baghdad missions, then the more linear tunnel maps gave way to open maps and we had a blast. The game didn't really get immersive until then, but when it did... boy was it fun!
I totally recommend getting the game if you have a friend to shoot with. In the coop regard this is like a 8.5-9 game. I can't sa...
What's so bad about J-Games? They're always at the forefront of coming up with new game ideas and designs. Just because they like their top down shooters doesn't make it any worse than liking FPS. Granted that shooter looked insanely difficult, but hey at least they have games that cater to the super-hardcore. GOW is like a walk in the park in comparison and even among Third-party shooters it's pretty easy to beat considering you have auto checkpoints and the like. Not that I believe this...
then you need to check your FACTS before stating them.
I disagree
Double you sound off well meaning in your post but quickly degenerate into a fanboy yourself. Your not pulling any wool over my eyes anytime soon. You think compression doesn't affect quality? Are you nuts? Why did movies transition from VHS to DVD to BluRay in the first place? Oh ya just for the sound! Seriously. Why don't you stay on VHS then? With the compression algorithims that they have nowadays, I am sure you can get HD quality out of a tape and enjoy your smarts.

My opinion is that by the time GOW2 comes out, it probably will not have the comfortable lead over other 1st party FPS shooters that the first game did. Except for the soft body interaction, most of the tech demonstrated is already available on one game or another. Heck, I would probably venture to say that Crysis already has all of them.
But since we are talking about consoles, lets take a look.
Improved Lighting and shadow- This is already what Killzone2 is be...
Which one where you looking at? By my observation I saw more balls, more vibrants colours, better animation capture in the real Bravia ad.I could see anti-aliasing in the cryengine2, balls that disppeared (there is a green one that just vanishes [saw it the first time]), and collisions that don't quite react the same way a normal ball would. The chicken leaves a motion blur trail that is unrealistically long. The only time I can't tell if somethings computer or not is if the scene plays out ...
Your argument makes sense if the PS3 only had the cell processor itself. The fact is that the PS3 also has a GPU that can offload some of the workload. Hence, I don't see any reason why Polyphony can't raytrace their car models.
Your argument is absolutely ridiculous. Why not develop for the Wii first then? It's got the largest base and the code that would run on either the PS3 or xbox360. Trust me, it's much easier to downgrade code, textures/graphics then it is to upgrade it. The PS3 has more potential than the xbox360 or Wii in the long term. Hence the decision.
Martini you are absolutely right. The PS3 can run the general purpose code written for the 360 but the 360 can't run the PS3 specialized code.
Most programmers probably start out with a general purpose code framework before rewriting it to utilize PS3 SPUs for example. Therefore, why not develop on the PS3 first? The PS3 can perform either one...
Mr. Fisher, you should try to read between the lines. Given most of the ports last year were xbox360 as the baseline, developers choosing to switch over to the PS3 means more than just your one sided 'easier to program' or 'lowest common denominator' reasoning. No company would switch their target platform to a "dead" or "dying" console system. The market trend shows otherwise, therefore it makes sense for them to switch.
Are you daft? Martini is right?! where do you come up with that logic? Based off his btw, sarcastic backhand, the Wii should be the lead platform being the lowest common denominator not to mention highest base.
I was so mad about getting this game after going through a couple marathon sessions myself. I thought I'd spend about an hour or two of my afternoon weekend... Wasted my whole day.
I bought the game as well thinking it would be diverting fun ... until I started spending hours on this game trying to "perfect" the levels just to advance. It brings out the worst in gamers, and is NOT fun if your goal is to simply get perfect scores on every level. The irony of it is that I do not recommend anyone get this "pretty"(charming looking) game unless they are prepared for some hardcore sessions and I do mean masochistically painful long hours beating levels.
"a real gamer can't afford not to have a 360"
How about a real gamer builds a custom PC rig instead of cheap-skating on $300 system?
I certainly prefer the "PLETHORA" of games that the PC has over the Xbox360... any day of the week 24/7
@Mighty_douche There was absolutely nothing wrong with your statement. I'm on your side.
Actually jackie, I'm inclined to disagree with you. Just because you use VC1 to encode doesn't mean that video is going to come out the same. Take mp3s for example. 128kbit is totally going to be different from 256kbit. So if you were to ask me how quality could be different between a 17gb disc and 25gb disc, (assuming I couldn't tell difference from 7-10 feet away), I would still give the edge to the 25gb Bluray disc (and that's also assuming it isn't a dual layer 50 gb one), purely thro...
Good thing you responded. I was about to remark how pointless it was to read comments in this section given that the vast, and yes I mean the vast majority, seemed to have glossed over the article before making nonsense conclusions.
Well... remark made anyway, but I'm glad to actually see a well put together response and synopsis, though I don't think even your cliff notes will be studied either. XD
"They recently saw the PC game in action and it's looking every bit as good as the Xbox 360 original - some might say even better."
- Some might even say better? hahahah. Your kidding right? There's no way the PC version is going to be just on par with the 360 version, considering additional development, better hardware... lol
