Multiplayer = Longevitiy in this IGN reviewer's opinion. r2 has better longevity than geow2 with it's massive multi-elements. geow2's offering is like a drop in the pond comparatively.

What can you do? MS has been raping consumers for years starting with Windows 1.0. They're still around because they get to ream each successive generation that comes along. Let's get off the subject for a moment of r2 vs. geow2. You wanna know what game creams both of these titles (after I had the chance to play both)? MGS4. Better shooting mechanics than either, much much much better story than either, better cinematics, sound, music score, steath, bosses, enemy variety, etc.
Kojima totally reamed the competition this year in the FPS/TPS genre. Epic has no shot, Insomniac has no shot. And that's with my heavy bias toward both of these compani...

Jenzo you call that depth of field? Where does your supposed depth of field shift focus from foreground to background or vice versa? Lets see... never. Look at the video of the enemy falling on the last video... i don't see a depth of field shift when he hits the ground... do you? I don't! The ground is still blurry! I call that background... vaseline effect and its prevalent throughout the video. It is a blur not a depth of field.
3rd party devs aren't necessarily lazy... they just aren't quite on the cutting edge with their tech as 1st party devs are. 1st party has access to very new stuff that hasn't quite entered the drawing boards of 3rd party.

I agree... Geow2 might be better than R2 in some circles, but it's story, gameplay, and presentation is nowhere near the level, depth, complexity, or technical wizardy that MGS4 did on top of their technical prowess (especially impressive considering it's a japanese company pulling this off). To me the story seemed hackneyed. They were trying fit too many story threads into a 6 hour campaign that just didn't work. I was totally lost when Tai took his own life. Didn't know whether it was b/c he was infected or b/c he couldn't stand the torture. Either way he was still standing b4 he shot himself randomly. After seeing the polish in MGS4 vs. Geow2, wipeout, gt5prologue, motorstorm2 and lbp, my buddies have all started to agree that the differences between ps3 and 360 1st party titles are noticeable and growing... just not to the extent it was originally "hyped" to be. One of my buds kept insisting the trailers of motorstorm2 were CG trailers... until I showed him gameplay.... now he doesn't argue which is the more powerful console.

I've been reading NG since I was kid. I wouldn't have had the interest to travel to the 20-odd countries i've been to otherwise. Video footage of animals, plants, landscapes on blu-ray are the absolute best. DVD is like VHS next to it.
I blame Sony on failing to market/advertise this product properly. There should've been media blitzes akin to GtaIV if not Halo3 for this product. I see more bus stop ads with left4dead than I see LBP ads (1 billboard).
