I'm reserving my judgement until i see a semblance of a story or purpose. The sandbox destruction demonstration is great but I don't want a game that would just revolve around wrecking everyone and everything. I'm actually put off by the lack of video variety so far. There isn't a sense of moral dilemmas, of walking a light or darkside, or even a social tie to people or characters in the city. I want to see some other game modes other than just utter anarchy. Just my two cents.
while i am impressed with the amount of onscreen action going on at the same time. I have to question why there are all these people milling in the middle of a street in the middle of a military warzone... Are they zombies or converted creatures? why aren't they trying to run from the main charc? He's just killing everyone and nobody seems to fear the guy. People usually run and hide when shooting explosions and destruction starts happening. They don't just mill around...(ok it looks like ...
Doesn't HW kind of remind you of Starcraft with AofEmpire like pacing? that's the feeling that I get from looking at the game.
This article is extremely biased and focused on the author's version of "factual finding". Did you guys notice how the author "conveniently" added the Wii's stats at the end? What did it show? After all his arguments about how consoles aren't "really" dependent on exclusives we see 88 million out 101 million purchased games for the Wii were... EXCLUSIVE. What does that say? When 2 out 3 console sales #s are based HEAVILY on exclusives, the conclusion isn't &qu...
gamers like violater who won't be able to play both games and have to base impressions off QVGA vids make me feel bad.
So sad. So sad.
There has already been plenty of comparison articles this year between all three platforms firstknight. It's clear that the PS3 won this round this year in terms of quality. Stop trying to come up with your own rehash of the obvious. Ps3 won, so let's move on.
Thanks for the placeholder footage. Me thinks that a person being thrown at a chopper wouldn't exactly take one down though... More like bounce off the chopper body or get sliced up by the blades o_O
Don't say something "duh" then and I wouldn't have to correct you.
I think VG's numbers were fair considering that everyone in the industry expected Sony to price drop in order to compete for the holiday season. Sony didn't because of the strong yen exacerbating losses on each ps3 unit sold worldwide due Western market recessions. Hopefully their preservation gambit was worth it because now they have to price cut into a slower sales season. Did they turn a profit for the quarter? Looks like they did, so let's see what they do next in this critical period.
MS doesn't sell sell windows pcs. Pc manufacturers do. Sony is a pc manufacturer as well.
Gears of War2 syndrome? Wouldn't practically ever FPS or TPS the same "problem" then? Also... what would be your point? Even if it does follow the so called "syndrome" it looks better than anything with the same "syndrome" (excluding maybe KZ2/Crysis). Look at the curves on the chairs and the lamp. Curves! Not angular! Very impressive.
You've got to be joking... You're pseudonym implies exactly what I think Alan Wake's game enviornment will be like... with only dvd space to work with to cover 36 square miles.
Free radical succeeded with the PS2.... so why would it be unnatural to make a game on the ps3 given their knowledge and background. Unfortunately Haze failed as an IP. It was buggy and extremely repetitve.
I appreciate the Alan Wake shots for all its worth, but frankly I don't see any graphical boundaries being broken on this title beyond the fact that they managed to squeeze a little bit more out of the 360. In all fairness this is a GTAIV style world so compromises have to be made and I don't think any other studio could have done much better. From what I see of the screenshots noted by 360man, the backdrops consist of very low polygon models. Look at the mountain, Simple angles. I see the...
Last time I checked... Sony had more than 2 platforms Bladestar... Sony makes PCs to run Alan Wake with... that and cameras, camcorders, HD-TVs, bluray drives, dvd drives, phones, walkmans, atrac/mp3 players, sound ystems as well as consoles. Where do you come up with your arguments? What is your point? That MS has it harder than most? Sony makes a killing too if you buy a Vaio and Alan Wake.
@1.18 Edonus I agree. To call it exclusive is very misleading and MS should really be ...
Hey guys,
I'm one to give where credit is due and both martini and nainainai are right on this end. You can technically output 1080p on a DVD. You'd just have about maybe 10-20 minutes to work of uncompressed video to work with and it would stutter badly at the beginning before smoothing out after the first 5 minutes due to the lower than bluray readspeed at the beginning. of course... you'd need hardware to support it... which doesn't exist.
Nope. Gears2 was exactly like Gears 1 with better lighting. That was about it. I did love the art direction though, but gameplay was EXACTLY the same (meaning 6-8 enemies per encounter).
The reason why you got the disagree is because the article STATES that the statistic is scaled. No need for your to re-emphasize or spin what everyone else can read. They aren't misleading if they state it to your face.
I'd like to know where from where. MS has rare and lionhead. ensemble is gone. I would think both rare and lionhead are currently tapped out. Bungie is making a halo expansion and rts. What other studio does MS have?
I'm the same as Ju with the cultural and background playing against wanton violence like this. I think this game already will be greatly limited to US and Uk b/c of its gratuitous bloodletting.
