As a game, MGS4 is far more polished than even geow2. Unquestionably even if you don't like the story, it carries far more depth than geow2.
Gameplay mechanics is on par or better with even more custom moves than geow2. You can cover, crawl, lay on your back, blend into shadows or surroundings, etc. You can grab an enemy like geow2, but you can 9+ vs ways of how you deal with them besides using them as a body shield.
Good points but bullsh1t. Walmart is replacing CDs because of "HUGE" nationwide drop in CD sales. It isn't b/c of Walmart's "download" service. It is b/c of consumer disinterest in mainstream music. You give too much credit to "Walmart" when iTunes should be the finger to point if any. However, I don't even think iTunes as the singular reason why consumers are quitting on the crap that's being churned out these days.
yeah i just love how enemies at checkpoints respawn minutes after you leave the area. You'd think logically they could have them respawn the next day or something.
Or better yet, how the enemy ai is so smart it will rush toward a jeep when they see you, but rather than mount the 50 caliber and shoot, he will sit in the drivers seat, start the car, and then get up "minutes later" to switch to the gun.
I've had so much "fun" (not) driving my jeep into a vi...
Wait wait guys, you forgot MacOS, Netscape Navigator, and oh oh Microsoft Office (from Lotus 123, Notes).
The reviews were both written the by the same guy. He favored one over the other. Pure and simple. I'd like to look up his review history to see which platform he plays on primarily.
But in his favor, he does seem to like MGS4 even more.
faulting a game for graphics seems rather underhanded... When you have 30+ enemies onscreen shooting at you, there has to be some give...
@Wildattorney: I've seen horde mode. It doesn't host more than 5-8 enemies per encounter. You kill 5-8 creatures and it spawns 5-8 more until the wave finishes (ie until you kill 50 enemies, etc.)It is not 30+ onscreen enemies shooting you at the same time.
Looks like IGN scored both Resistance 2 and Geow2 the same score.
Flame on!~
Great Point Pebz. Too bad MS didn't take your advice to heart at the BEGINNING of the PS3 console cycle. Remember the MS PR Tech articles about the inferior PS3? Well... karma bites.
@La Chance/AgentVX Again if multiplats are so great why is there only one game COD4, that really compares to Sony or even MS's 1st/3rd party exclusive lineup? That answer is multiplats rarely push hardware potential on either console. Name a multiplat better than geow2, resistance 2, mgs4, Fable...
Damn impressive for sure. Very creative implementation
Reads like a screenplay writer's review. I especially like the part where he talks about how the story doesn't reveal itself in layers like it should, and seems a little too forward with plot. Great tips to take back for anyone. Been something I'm trying to develop in my writing as well.
Agreed on the graphical front. But R2 does feature a more "technicallY impressive" array of "real" hordes, as well as a more impressive multiplayer, or coop mode. So not too far from the author's assertion, though for different reasons from Mitchell.
Whoah Slick, if you're hearing voices, you'd better go get your head checked. Must be hard listening to your imaginary girlfriend cry ;p
I can believe that Kz2 will never be done on the 360. Why? B/c no dev either 1st, 2nd, or 3rd party in the 360 portfolio has the $60-70 mill budget that this game costs to work with. MS sure doesn't seem to want to spend that type of money either.
Very retarded article. A fanboy with absolultey no tech knowledge.
His very first reason about the buzzing noise from his speakers is the same reason why cheap speakers go crazy when cell phones ring. It's called poor shielding. Get better speakers or a better TV Matt.
#2 Is a niggle about a PS3 icon even worth a discussion?
3. Lack of Thumbnailing
#3 Thumbnailing - U can put a thumbnail on the video... You can even customize the thumbnail. wtf? R...
I can see why the blogger thinks the PS3 one looks better. The 360's lighting... if it is what Cheboury says is dynamic lighting.. doesn't seem to improve on the environment but instead washes out the vibrant color and leaves an over-bearing yellow wake.
The colors are hardly "dull" on the PS3 version though without this yellow wash and actually makes the character's flesh tones look more realistic. Look at the image of the pipe climb. For some reason, the 360's hand...
Good stuff you showed. According to the posts the 360 has partial/mostly AA and ps3 doesn't. Wonder if that will change when both versions approach release?
Dude... I just got a huge headache reading your post. Use some punctuation... please!
Uh... look at actual gameplay:

Not even close to what they are alluding in that cinematics.
How did you come with that conclusion iMad? I don't doubt that there are new video drivers with the NXE update, but what does that have anything to do with installing the game? Theoretically, you should still be able to execute the improvements off the DVD disc. The new drivers are already installed right?
Nobody seems to realize that a game industry championed by Microsoft is not going to be a very pretty place. As much I think japan game companies' are behind in terms of 3D rendering, they very much are still very strong in introducing original/unique game concepts.
Anyway, the gist of the article seems to point that parity is nearing.
