Three patches on day one is already two more than most and says they didn’t address the issues with 1.02 or 1.03, thus the need for a 1.04.

Then to make matters better 1.03 and 1.04 were specifically for bug fixes. 1.02 was about half bug fixes.

It’s not even a full day through launch ffs.

How many games have you played that had not one but four day one updates?

@CarlDechance: Hilarious is that those are the official patch notes provided by the developer, Insomniac, and is freely available to all even via the PS4. Two of the updates are for bug fixes specifically. What’s worse is the word “issues” is even included. So yes, the game has bugs and issues. Enough so that three separate updates had to be released outside of the day one patch that was already announced before launch. But yeah, salt. /s

@Aenea: So then by your logic would Sony not lose potential sales from being the only platform not diving in?

Considering those other platforms work together and Sony doesn’t that would logically make Sony the lowest on the totem pole as what you just said says those other platforms are letting individuals play together regardless of platform. Even with mobile devices.

So if I want to play X title with friends and it’s cross platform the only wrong choice...

PS2 backward compatibility was removed from more models than it was available on. Xbox One backwards compatibility also brings enhancements to anything from framerate to resolution and performance.

PS2 & PSOne backwards compatibility was all very half baked and not really better than what was available before it. All PS3 backwards compatibility added was options for “Smoothness” and aspect ratio scaling which did more stretching versus scaling.

The rather large difference between your example and Dolby Vision/HDR10, from my understanding, is that Dolby Vision produced products still need to have HDR10 included or packed in.

They really aren’t competitors. Dolby Vision is merely upgraded HDR10. It also seems like that Dolby Vision needs HDR10 to exist.

They do. Just not with PS4.

Reading around you seem better off using other devices outside of Sony for Dolby Vision. My understanding is that the feature on Sony devices has to be turned on manually rather than it doing it on the fly. Then when you’re done you have to manually shut it off or HDR features will try to push with content not made for HDR causing a bit of a mess.

As of right now there doesn’t appear to be details of Dolby Vision being added for 4K Blu-Rays but I’d imagine it will be implemented. They’ve already got the 4K Blu-Ray drive in the Xbox One X so it’d be believable that an update will come.

I’d also wager more content providers outside of Netflix will update to add support as some do offer Dolby Vision outside of Netflix.

Not a definitive yes or no but it would appear Netflix was quick on the draw.

You don’t have to switch? Both are supported.

All Dolby Vision is, to break it down, is a slightly upgraded and updated version of HDR10. As evidenced by the article as well Dolby Vision would currently only be supported via the Netflix app. If your display can handle Dolby Vision and the content is Dolby Vision supported Dolby Vision will be used. If the content is not Dolby Vision supported but HDR10 supported then HDR10 would be used.

If both are suppo...

Because that is not one of the perks of having PS+. Use of any beta.

Certain exclusive betas few and far between does not represent all betas. Also as illustrated the previous Battlefield beta did not require PS+.

I like how it’s “insignificant” when it’s easily being proven you’re skewing the truth and complete picture.

“It’s a perk for subscribing to Plus.” Sure PlayStation Plus gets “perks” but “it’s” not one of them.

No. Dolby Vision and HDR10 are two different standards.

This story also shows in one of the screenshots that both HDR10 and Dolby Vision will coexist.

Nope. The differences were talked about in correlation to what they’d offer the Xbox One but Dolby Vision is about to be supported.

The Call of Duty betas have not required PlayStation Plus to access the betas. H1Z1, ONRUSH, Monster Hunter World, Battlefield 1, Star Wars Battlefront, and NUMEROUS other titles did not require PlayStation Plus to access the betas.

What you’re referring to is EXCLUSIVE BETAS via PlayStation Plus.

Are you new to PlayStation or did you just misread and misspeak?

@Dirtnapstor: You can run a trial to Xbox Live which comes with every new console and STILL receive those games free.

No matter what kind of spin you put on it only one service actually offers free games. Not “free” but free.

Maybe you should try again and attempt to explain to me what part of 360 titles being free in every sense is misleading. When Sony doesn’t do the same with PS3 games from the same generation.

And that they actually want to move said product on their system. Isn’t that part of the deal with Activision and Sony even? Sony gets to promote first in hopes that individuals will mix the idea that exclusivity lies with the platform in one way or the other? Further pushing up PlayStation sales?

2849d ago 6 agree0 disagreeView comment

@madforaday: Except Xbox Live DOES provide free games. Any Xbox 360 titles you receive with Games with Gold are yours to keep, regardless of subscription.

@Thundercat77: You think all divorced or separated individuals don’t have sex with their previous partner? Not all do but it’s asinine to say that none do. Further if you have children with that individual it is very possible for that individual to follow you.

@frostypants:
1) Install times would decrease with a faster drive as the content on the disc is still being installed to the HDD
2) Video playback

The simplest way I can put this is if they plan on keeping the same drive in PS5 upgrading the drive turns into a necessity. Read and write speeds would increase, capacity would increase, and overall keeping the same drive could potentially turn into a bottleneck or more of a hindrance.

If the...

They’ll likely have to up the Blu-Ray drive to a 4K capable drive or better. The PS4 Blu-Ray drive isn’t going to cut it.
