This rumor came up before, was shot down. I don't think Microsoft wants to pay Sony money with every console. Probably already said above, but they will likely make their own format for next gen.

You want real weapon degradation and repair? Make it a pain in the neck like in Vagrant Story. Now that's realism. But if all you do is press a button over and over, I can do without it and not feel the game is cheapened.

Weapon degradation is stupid, especially since repairing it just required pressing a button a few times in a row. How realistic is that? Might as well streamline and get rid of it.

I expect a slightly higher price than the average Vita game, but not by much.
A policy that makes sense if you release your console a year earlier than your rival. Let's see if they maintain this stance next gen, w/o that one year lead.

Official numbers from both Sony and Microsoft show Sony gaining every year on Microsoft since the PS3s launch. We may not know the exact worldwide numbers, but we supposedly know the USA numbers, so simple logic is that Sony is winning in the rest of the world. I don't see how this is hard to understand.

I truly, truly believe that if MS had waited to release the 360, it would indeed have been dead on arrival...or at best have a very mediocre showing.
We underestimate the worldwide strength of the Sony name.
If we need anymore proof, remember what happened to Sony this gen: headstarted by 360, Wii releases same time as PS3, loss of traditional exclusives, earthquake/radioative mess at home, major hacking....
...and Sony will still beat Micros...
Microsoft had no intention, this gen, of actually winning it all. They just want to increase their install base and following for next gen. That's why they HAD to come out first, no matter the cost. They HAD to get those Xboxes in people's homes...even if they broke like crazy, even if it was outdated. They had to get folks addicted to it, and based on the idiocy of people buying the same broke hardware over and over again, it looks like it worked.

This pricecut will simply allow the PS3 to keep it's necessary pace in the US. Worldwide is already covered and owned by Sony. If the PS3 does TOO well with this pricecut, the 360 will simply have a pricecut of their own. Microsoft's greatest move this gen was coming out first, and they will never allow Sony to undercut them in the States. That's the main advantage of coming out first.
But that's ok, Sony must simply keep pace here and walk away from this gen ...
Lol...few bigger PS3 fanboys than me on this site. =) 360 was dead as soon as PS3 launched in Japan...it's only lifeblood was MS money.

Hope they don't get sued by S-E for having the word "Fantasy" in their title.
We gamers have made betas a super huge deal this gen, so publishers/developers are just taking advantage of that. I remember squinting in disbelief at how many people were involved with that code frenzy for LBP Beta.
