--- the "far less frustration" part is a fancy way of saying "easy", which is exactly the problem with NG3 as that goes against why fans loved the series.

The Xbox is still an FPS/shooter--first console. Not many people in Japan are part of that form of gaming culture.

Please give me examples of other games from Japan this gen of the quality of Demon's and Dark Souls?
Demon Souls and Dark Souls are, in my opinion, the only two games to come out of Japan this gen that are truly THIS gen in quality.
Which is why it's a pity that both games bore me. But I respect them for what they are.

Yeah I think the better term is "casual" gamers vs "hard core" gamers.
Casual gamers are certainly "real" but I don't have much in common with the gaming interests of most girls, soccer moms and most old people (demographics that Nintendo loves to cater to), with rare exceptions in either direction.

Good post. I'm no Microsoft fan either but to defeat the opponent you need to clearly recognize and acknowledge what they have done. Sony needs to see what happened this gen and step their game up. I believe they will.

...but that's the backbone of what an FPS is and so it is understood. That's like saying all of the walking around in the Zelda series is negatively repetitive, or having to speak to people in Skyrim is negatively repetitive. These are basic parts of what defines the genres.
