If only that were true, Rare disbanded almost immediately after perfect dark N64. That Rare was in a period of transition years before Microsoft came along. They are not EA, Star Wars Battlefield ahem* Battlefront anyone?

Command and Conquer, Medal of Honour and numerous others that were in time ran aground and discontinued.

Not much then haha

Most of the guys who worked on Goldeneye and Perfect Dark N64 went on to create Free Radical who produced the excellent Time Splitters Trilogy.

In reality though this was less than half a dozen prolific and extremely talented coders. Goldeneye N64's legendary multiplayer was added to the game secretly by a single guy in a month before release!

Apologies for not providing links, never works from my mobile/ all the information is out there though.

I guess but decent hard drives are getting cheaper every day and a console plus large HDD is still way cheaper and simpler then buying/building a gaming PC.

Sure as hell beats having 6x memory cards, those were the days eh

Let me guess #1 is that its made by Microsoft

Here's an idea that I didn't initially consider what if a person paid full whack for a game on day one, played it, loved it, cherished it but eventually traded it towards something else.

Later on they miss the game but download a cracked version, technically they've paid already, is that legitimate? Haha

Also as a recent pc gamer who has discovered the often spectacular and undeniably delicious pricing of the insane and very regular steam sales, d...

Have to say I hope not as there's the risk of it being tacked on nonsense. I feel that their prior games have been so stellar partly for just focusing on delivering the best single player experience that they could.

Oh no a random person online who knows less than nothing about me implied that I was stupid, please excuse me while I proceed to end my life.

In the meantime I've nothing against demo's, always enjoyed them in fact. I do not personally feel though that not having a demo justifies theft.

Let's revisit the car dealership analogy for which there is much love, so if they don't have the new model/a model I'd like to drive as a demonstrater I sh...

Sometimes people steal cars, ya know just to "test" them then promptly returning them in good working order, with a full tank of gas and a hand written apology before immediately heading to the dealership to buy one of their own.

PC gaming can be great, when it works, how many hours though messing around with drivers and the like?

So many times I have gone to great lengths to get everything running smoothly as it should and then one update from Windows, or steam, or origin or the GPU vendor or any effing where fudges everything up completely.

It is infuriating to say the least, I don't think I could ever have no console at hand for that reason alone. I'd rather play the games ...

Why would anyone want real time cut scenes in a game pushing for atmosphere and storyline? Sure in the days of PS1 they were pretty much a requirement as the hardware couldn't do much with polygon modelling.

As long as their isn't a stifling night and day difference, does anyone really care?

Tell that to the millions of players who suffered Battlefield 3 and 4 for the first TWO years of optimisation and dare I mention Batman.

The platform itself doesn't magically resolve issues, developers still need to actually be assed to sort it out.

Case in point, the second, recent and legitimate release of Resident Evil 4 on PC, the first was so bad that fans extracted the Gamecube content and HD'd it themselves uploading it as huge exe files to pat...

To be honest it appears most fans of Remedy are at fever pitch levels of anticipation, after the excellent Max Payne 1/2 and Alan Wake how could they not be.

I have more respect for them as a developer for taking their time and releasing quality products when they are finished. Some will complain that Alan Wake had to be modified as their vision exceeded the technology, but I believe that misses the point as this happens often. It was still an impressive feat.

I'm really enjoying resi 0, I thrashed it a few times in its day on Ninty's Cube, last year on Dolphin 🐬 emulator on my PC and twice now on Xbox One.

My advice (as the game is hard as nails on regular, not like this watered down COD nonsense that we're used too) is to play through first on easy getting a handle for inventory management, bosses etc then play it through again on regular.

I found this to be particularly satisfying as I came u...

CS GO is still fun but the graphics...Haha a few years ago on my average 24" it looked good, now on the 32" led hdtv with a vastly superior picture it looks pretty rough. Certainly alot worse than the 2005 CS source running max on pc. Perhaps that's to be expected, certainly it looks far worse than say Gears of war 3.

If I was making games I'd want in on the Bungie technology, I still can't believe how polished Destiny looks.

I haven't seen a game looking that good outside of The Order which wasn't running on a high end PC and it was released a little while back. I think its incredible in that regard.

Really I'm stoked for The Division, I think it looks great and presents an original take on the modern shooter theme.

Nothing to do with them creating the run away success and beloved Halo series?

Destiny was marketing itself "from the creators of Halo" once most people I know heard that, myself included we were intrigued.

3652d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

Just "a few extra hundred" that demographic is gargantuan in proportion, beyond your belief, clearly.

Aside from the accessibility, frequency of updates, no need for maintenance/not upgrading hardware etc. Its about choice plenty of people could afford a modern gaming pc, myself included but really are not interested.

Why do you think the Crysis series was always destined to hit consoles? PC only games rarely sell in any substantial volume, back in ...

Wasn't Destiny a critical and commercial success?

I remember it being gorgeous but somewhat tedious, prior to The Taken King updates.

Lol, that's the truth in 03/4 I had an Xbox and my older brother had a PS2, Soul Calibur 2, Colin Mcrae rally, Driver 3 and many others were far more polished on Xbox.

Comparing Dead or Alive 3 to say Virtua fighter on PS2 wasn't even funny, I've not seen a gap that large between Xbox One and PS4 myself and likely won't as the hardware today has far more in common then those two systems ever did.
