MisterHBK: Totally agree. (Especially if you're not counting Tierkreis.) IV was awful. Tactics followed up with IV's horrible cast, and so it was horrible, too. I can't bring myself to fire up my PS2 and finish V.
Why don't they just have Ultimate Marvel Alliance?
It'd be easy for them to add DLC. Just sub in the characters who died. :)
Yes, that was the joke. That From Software should have been publishing this with Atlus.
The winning shield should have been an Atlus logo.
In all seriousness, the majority of the shields on the page looked better than the flower power shield. (Except the spider web & the blue/red design.)
Dear Submitter:

1) None of the Ratchet & Clank games had numbers. That's why it makes sense for them not to be making a Ratchet & Clank 6. Switching from numbers to subtitles is the stupid part.
2) You have trouble understanding context apparently. "Unbounded" means nothing in the context of the game world. You're constrained by the tracks, the guardrails and the roads. It's pretty damn bounded.
Has limits, and does not appear to be without them...
Holy crap! A guy with a Below the Root avatar!?
No shortage of meaningless and stupid subtitles coming out of Japan.
Just call it Ridge Racer 8, or whatever number it is, goddammit. "Unbounded" doesn't mean anything, and nobody's going to buy a game because you slapped a stupid name onto it instead of a number.
I met Jay at E3. He was doing some BS for G4TV.
How many people here read the article. It wasn't about whether or not the Wii "fulfilled ITS promise", it's whether the Wii fulfilled the promises Iwata made back in 2005.
The article counted 4 of Iwata's promises as not true, and 2 as true.
The same can be said for Mirror's Edge on his list, too. I figured if the article writer wasn't going to rigidly adhere to his own guidelines, he should be shown what other games they blatantly missed that should have also been found if they were fudging the guidelines.
Sigh. I hate how lazy list-based "journalists" try and pass off "all-time" lists that are just "The Top X off the top of my head".
Obvious oversights:
Zeno Clash
Shogo: Mobile Armor Division
Hexen
Deus Ex
Rainbow Six (The first big realistic tactics based shooter)
Savage
MechWarrior
Actually that wasn't the full quote, either. 1up truncated it, and then had the full thing in the full, unabridged interview.
You should really read the full interview, because it doesn't sound at all like, "Make Western games".
For example, when he opens the interview, he says, "Of course, Capcom was always a company that worked out more in the West; their brands were more popular in the West, we made an active effort earlier than a lo...
Here's the full quote, instead of the completely taken out of context one:
"Inafune told me that in order to sell games to the world, "[Japanese developers] have to empty their glass and fill it up with what foreigners like," rather than "forcefully push[ing] their own way of doing things." In other words, he feels Japan must actively try to create new things rather than figure out how to better sell the products they're already making -- some...
Obviously, when you try too hard to pander, it comes off as really, really obvious. That's why instead of one side trying to ape the other, they should try to take cues from the other side.
I didn't disagree with you earlier, but I will now.
"Sure, handheld games might not yield that large of a profit margin compared to console titles, but they tend to offer a positive return for minimal investment."
This is patently false. The DS offers the lowest possible returns per unit for any platform on the market. Think about it. Cartridges are far more expensive than optical media. So it costs more to make a physical DS game than it would ...
The guy's partially right, and the people railing against him aren't comprehending what he's saying.
Japan's falling behind in terms of market share (they haven't held the title of #1 gaming market for QUITE some time now.) and they don't seem to understand what's going on. All those niche developers and publishers in Japan that people have either merged or gone under or have reported financial trouble are an obvious sign that they need to get mone...
This reminds me of Sucker Punch...It looks exactly like what a 13 year old old would have thought was the greatest thing ever. Lasers! And power armor! Dinosaurs!
Totally not feeling the gothic lolita art. I don't care how this plays, I'm just not feeling any of the characters.
That was pretty effin' hilarious. Can't wait to play some tower offense!
