Well they invested the money that would usually all go towards to the power of the console to Kincet.
I mean that's at least $100 dollars that would have gone into better performance wasted.
To be fair, most games on consoles can't do 1080p 60 fps. It's been pretty evident that this gen of consoles are under powered, Sony and Microsoft can't afford selling consoles at a loss.
Me either actually. I mean it's being released on a Microsoft platform. While I would hope they don't release it only on Windows Store, I bought stuff on the old GFW and I can't even download those games.
Odds are it won't come to console, X-com 2 has already sold more than what the 360/ps3 game in it's lifetime in a week. And the last X-com game was a GOTY in many publications. It might not have the audience people think on consoles to make it worth.
So true, it feels like Battlefield: Bad company where you're just making holes to destroy cover and better your odds for you sniper. Fantastic game
Yep, like 360 and ps3 combined it only sold like 500k. Even if X-com 2 doesn't sell a ton off the bad, it's a long term game like Civ V. Where Civ V sold like 8 million on PC, but slowly.
@Eonjay Well the marketing is probably going to be split among 2 or 3 platforms. So lets say it cost them $10 million to port, it would take them about 250k copies on PC to break even. And that's assuming that Square have a 30% royalty to steam, it could be lower, especially since there isn't a ton of JRPG's on PC.
What I'm saying is since they don't have to pay to make the psychical game, ship and take returns on unsold games, give a cut to the stores...
Well that and even if they only sell like 500k, it's still profitable since at most they only have to give up 30% to steam for publishing. The rest is all profit for them
Well it didn't sell well on consoles, so they decided to start only on PC. I'm sure it's coming, but who knows. If they can sell a enough on PC to not miss the consoles sales, then I don't think it will.
Consider that they $42 dollars per copy on PC assuming steam takes 30%. While on console they only get like $27. It might just sell enough to break even, which might not be worth it.
None of those games have mass appeal, the hell are you talking about. All those games you listen have small niche followings.
I mean the only thing non-gaming people remember sega for is Sonic.
The French Revolution, WW1, WW2, France has been in some wars lol.
Great job for them. I'm playing on PC and having tons of fun.
The great thing about PC for developers is the higher margins they make on games. They make about 70% on each sale of the game, so they made about 50 million on 1.2M sold on day one.
You do realize that PC development is much cheaper, and the margins are way higher. The fees they have to pay are way lower, like 30% to steam. Meaning that even if a pc game sells only like 1.5 million, the profit is a lot higher. That's about 42 per digital download, 63 million if they sell 1.5m.
On the other side, according to the LA times research, publishers only take $27 per disc sold. If they sell 1.5m, they only make 40.5m. That means they have to sell 800k m...
I got the ending where Ciri dies, sad but rewarding in it's own way. You should play the Heart of Stone DLC, it's fantastic. Nice review!
Can you plug in a M/KB to this thing? I just want to play dota on it.
@ Number-nine
That's true, MGS 3's Boss was a really awesome character, and just because she was really strong they didn't change to appearance to be less aesthetically pleasant to compensate. That's a weird thing about women in games, either you're not strong and pretty or ugly and strong, there's no middle ground.
Actually most of these are models are probably going to be made by guys, so they're basically crafting their dream girls. The problem is context, if MGS is taking place in a battlefield, in what world does it make sense for her to wear that? If it can't be explained by the context of the game and setting, then it's just for objectification, no purpose besides to show some tits.
But... I don't see anything.
Maybe it won't have long winded conversations that take longer to listen to than read.
And to be fair, the only populated areas where the small encampments. MGS looks great, but let's not pretend that it is a GTAV or Witcher 3.
