To me people who say "oh I play COD" seems so generic. Yes, in a way COD has made gamers more streamlined, instead of the nerd who was the loser.
It'd be more impressive if he said, "oh I'm a huge Red Dead Redemption fan, or I love playing Bioshock. Or, oh yeah I just picked up Portal 2."
Cod is just meh. Those are wanna be gamers.
Different strokes for different folks.
Though in my opinion Portal 2 is definitely goty material.
Yes there's only 1 core mechanic but it's everything else that makes Portal 2 SO damn good.
The voice acting-Steve Merchant, JK Simons. Easily one of the best voice acting I've heard in a video game. Just tremendous.
The script-Blows videogame scripts out of the water, and easily blows some tv shows, or movies as well....
Honestly. It's one thing to criticize a game you played, it's another thing to criticize a game you haven't.
Portal 2 has Multiplayer Co-op, Plus a SP that you can play again (which is quite enjoyable since the sp is incredible, and there's so many details throughout). Also you can replay the sp with developer commentary, and then there's a bunch of extra's in the menu like the Super 8 interactive trailer.
Jeez.
Agreed. Would like to see his thoughts on Portal 2. A game which blew MGS 4 out of the water imo.
Sure. But there's SO much to Portal 2 that makes it standout. The dialogue for instance. It's SO sharply written, it puts so many games to shame. Even compared to most movies the dialogue stands out so much. Then there's the humor which manages never to be corny, and crude. That's a huge step up for video games.
Then there's the excellent lighting, the great narrative, the characters, the small details that no one would notice but still there for the heck ...
Hardly?
Portal 2 mixed a good narrative, with witty, and humerous dialogue, mixed in with engaging characters, and excellent level design and you say hardly?
When a game has a better script than most films that's sayin' somethin'.
I'm not trying to toot it's horn or anything but Portal 2 created a gaming experience that very seldom you get to experience.
Besides that, the only game where I can see someone ...
The only reason it might win GOTY is because it'll be one of the last, best games to be released this year. So it'll still be the FRESHEST in everyone's mind.
Otherwise. Portal 2 would win it hands down. Right now with a 95 on metacritic is easily in the top 5 highest scored games on metacritic. Secondly, it's just that. The game is GOOOD. Extremely good. As perfect, as perfect can get it.
Yet, there's still some huge GOTY contenders to b...
Could easily see World Wide Sales + Steam Sales total near 3 million in a month. Could see, somewhere in the ballpark of 6-8 million sales by the end of the year if the promotions hold up.
People by quality. If the game is good, they will come. Nuff said.
Really? Have you even played it. I have and it's possibly one of the finest fighters this year. Plus it's close to having a 90 on metacritic which isn't to shabby either ;)
Valve and Rockstar. Money in the bank everytime with there games.
95 on metacritic right now...damn.
Look at this pic of El Shaddi and tell that ain't art. If that's not art, then I don't know what is...:/
Out of all the franchises that NEED rebooting, this is probably THE game that, SERIOUSLY, NEEDS a reboot.
The Crash Bandicoot series is a classic. Nearly every game was good, including the awesome crash team racing. After the ps1 days though, the franchise just fell to the way side.
Obviously Naughty Dog won't buy the license back (doesn't make sense considering they have Uncharted, and Jak & Daxter), but I'd still like to see a reputable dev...
Bioware and Sony also have a good relationship so how about you stfu, eh?
Why would a AAA developer work on a arcade game? Developer GIANTS like Bioware don't mingle with small stuff like that.
xbla, psn are for developers who either have very low resources, or on the brink of bankruptcy.
It's always good when a developer decides to expand on new franchises, rather than "sticking to there guns" so to speak. They could easily settle with Mass Effect, and Dragon Age and milk the series to oblivion. It's good to see that they still want to try new things. Always a good sign of a good development team.
As to what this franchise will behold. A part of me wishes they'd do something akin to Jades Empire. A theme that's very unexplored in the g...
It's pretty ridiculous. I know the nintendo fanboys always say who gives a crap about the "oh, my wii is collecting dust" statement. But really, my wii IS collecting dust. It's pretty pathetic. Last year we got a few, and when I mean a few I really mean maybe 2 or 3 GOOD Wii games. The rest were simply okay, or shovelware.
Honestly, how can nintendo be satisfied with this? If I buy a $200+ system I expect a vast library with 100's of titles to choose fro...
Really? To old for gaming? How can we even have this conversation. Maybe 10 years ago, when gaming was something that appealed to the more "younger" generation. But now, hell no. Games have proven to be just as philosphical, and emotional as books, or films. Seriously gaming are the baby brothers to films, and books and it's a damn shame there still seen as toys.
Personally I'll play videogames whenever I can. Obviously as I grow older, and have children I&...
You do realize a new ip is a new franchise that isn't a sequel, or a prequel? Right?
What I'm saying is that Cod is more like a shooting fest competition. I can't tell you how many times people say in my school "Yeah, I play BlackOps. But that's it. Don't even need my 360/ps3 except for that."
Yes cod is a game. But to me it's on the same level as Madden, or any of the other sports titles. It's has become less about the narrative, the characters, the atmosphere, etc.
If he said yeah I like Alan Wake, or I love Hea...
