I downloaded the UDK and thought the GDC demo level looked good, but nothing amazing. I wasn't blown away or anything. I thought some of the foliage looked kind of silly -- the grass blades were massive.
A new Valve game is supposed to be announced soon. Probably at E3.

You know Alan Wake was also a PC game, right? If you compare the PC shots from a couple years back to the 360 version right now, you can see that the PC version looks quite a bit better. Imagine what it would look like if they continued working on that version.
You can't build good looking games entirely from good technology. For a graphically rich world, you need lots of artists.
For a relatively small studio with limited resources, I'd say GSC Game World's effort is pretty impressive. The textures are fantastic and the lighting is great, though the geometry is pretty blocky.

No way. With specs like those, it sounds it would be expensive to build which consequently would make it an expensive product for the consumer. I don't think Sony can afford to lose more money. Their game division lost something like $890 million this year.
