Well, he is a PC game developer.
Depends on the codec and amount of compression.
With VC-1, what Blu-Ray and HD-DVD use, 1080p (1920x1080/24) is 45 mbit/s.
Why would anybody want this?
Comcast would just throttle your speed down to 0 mbps.
No. NVIDIA aren't pushing hard enough.
The 9800 GTX is basically an 8800 GTS 512.
What a useless article. It gives no specs or performance numbers.
It reads like a press release.
Um, I mean at the most.
It was your laptop. The video plays fine on my computer.
Far Cry 2 looks good, but I don't think it'll raise the bar for graphics. At the very least, it'll be on par with Crysis (on the PC, obviously).
If you'd read the article, you'd know that Firefox 3's increased simultaneous connections limit is a potential negative for web servers as the increased connections would congest the tubes.
I really enjoyed Crysis. I admit that I wasn't that impressed by it the first time through, but after I upgraded to an 8800 GTS 512 ($180), the game became a whole lot more impressive and ergo more fun. I guess that's a downside of Crysis: you have more fun with it the more powerful your hardware is. To me, Crysis was one of the best FPS games in 2007.
Geez. Give it a rest, man.
I can't see this as being as big a contest with mods as innovative as those seen in the 'Make Something Unreal' contest for UT2004. Epic really screwed up the PC version. I think the population of the fanbase can attest to that. I decided to fire up the UT3 demo again just a few days ago and I saw ONE server, compared to the dozens that UT2004 had a few months after it was released and the dozens that the Battlefield 2 demo still has to this day.
It's impressive that it's running that many things using the CPU, but it, visually, doesn't look impressive.
However, put this CPU in the hands of a professional game developer and I bet they can make some pretty amazing things.
FF Beta 4 gets 68/100.
FF Beta 5 gets 71/100.
IE 7 and 8 get lower than 20.
Opera gets 100/100.
Right now, the targeted release date is around September 2008 for the PC version.
At least they didn't skimp on the anisotropic filtering.
Ugh, another Top * list?
Yes, it is worth a 7 day ban.
Because, obviously, its only use would be abuse.
Just an FYI:
These screenshots are from PCGH and were taken from the PC version running in DX10. (Although the screens, for some reason, weren't taken at max settings--look at the lack of AF).
