I found Jade Empire to be a little on the meh side. It just felt too action-y to me. It was a good game, yes, but more like 7/10 good. I still can't believe that IGN gave it a 9.9/10.
I do love Spore, but game developers need to stop dumbing down games. Spore was designed as a casual game from the very beginning, so I can forgive what it is now (though I am a little disappointed); but, for example, with a game like Fallout 3 that was made sometime during the development process to be accessible towards people who love to play mindless 1st- and 3rd-person shooters, that I cannot forgive. That's just blatant wanting of more sales at the expense of the quality of the game.
What a silly article.
EA sports games are coming back to the PC in 2009 with extra effort put into the development of them.
Also, making multi-platform games just makes sense from a business perspective. It's the reason why you see more and more previously console-exclusive games go to the PC and vice-versa.
The game is hard, but not THAT hard.
Put the game on Novice difficulty and it'll play like most other FPS' on normal or hard.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl actually sold over a million worldwide.
Why the hell do people always bring consoles into PC-only discussions?
Nobody cares.
30" LCD monitors typically have a resolution of 2560x1600. They cost in the $1,500 range, though.
Lots of games run well at this resolution, actually. With a modern card today (like an 8800 GTS or HD 4850), you can play games like Battlefield 2 and Counter-Strike: Source at 2560x1600, with AA, at frame rates 60 and above.
Stardock deserves it 110%.
They crafted a magnificent game and sold it with no DRM. I wish more publishers/developers could be like Stardock.
Games are reviewed on what the game is, not what the game could be.
If Spore were reviewed on what it could have been, it would've gotten a 10.
spandexxking, if PC games stop being made (which will never happen), then people will just go on to pirate console games. It requires a little more hassle initially, but once the setup is done then it's way easier to pirate a console game than a PC game.
Piracy is a problem, but not a ridiculously huge problem that so many people make it out to be. Piracy in the gaming industry is similar to piracy in the movie and music markets. Piracy hurts sales, but not by a stupidly huge amount.
Alone in the Dark has not been cracked yet and it's been 2 months.
I wish Maxis had upped the texture detail/resolution, but it's okay. A mod will probably come out soon that will do that.
I admit I pirated it, but I'm going to buy the Galactic Edition when it comes out. :D
orakga, the Galactic Edition is $80.
Regular edition is $50.
L4D is November.
Yeah, Google "betas" tend to be fairly polished, which the exception of that web accelerator program they made. What a terrible program...
Chrome has been in development for 2 years, by the way.
Spore.
Google Chrome obviously doesn't have the functionality of a Firefox, Opera, or even Internet Explorer yet, but this beta lays down a very powerful foundation.
The Javascript performance is AMAZING.
Digg loads up really damn quick compared to Firefox 3.0.1. I'm really impressed.
Oh, and the developer tools are nifty.
I like about:memory.
This is an amazing game.
