coming within 80,000 in the US is a major improvement for the ps3. None of its major franchises have hit. None of its heavy hitters are out. Expect this number to dwindle to nothing over the next few months. Oh and dont EVER expect the 360 to outsell the ps3 in the world again. Once the ps3 passes the 360 in sales in the U.S. the game is over.

i am willing to bet FF13 and GOW3 will come out in 2009. The only other one i see a chance of getting delayed until 2009 is GT5. MOST of those wont get delayed that long. KZ2, LBP, and Resistance will be here this fall. GT5 this winter, MGS this spring, twisted metal??? i dont know...

The games, blu-ray, psp-ps3 functionality, the ps3 community (HOME and in-game xmb), did I mention the games? anyway there is little doubt that 2008 is the year of the ps3.
On another note, it sounds like the ps3 is gaining the acceptance of the media, finally. This can only be a good thing for Sony.
I agree with you. however, if MS drops the price i see sony doing so also. If and I mean if the ps3 starts selling well enough to where they feel they are at the right price point then I dont see the need for them to drop it. I dont think sony feels as though 499 and 399 is the right price point to hang on to, but thats just my opinion.

I dont remember the actual numbers. I havent seen any in a while. However, I dont think sony minds breaking even on their consoles atm. The life cycles of their consoles really allow them to make money later on.
well, it also depends on what MS does. I really think that they will slash the price of the 360 before GTA4 in order to try and get more people to buy the console. If they do this it may force Sony to do the same... time will tell, this allows some wiggle room either way.
get a life wage and wow... the ps3 outsold the 360 in 2007 when it was heralded by MS as the "year to buy the 360". What does that make this year? Another year for the 360. It isnt going anywhere and there are still plenty of exciting titles coming out but expect the PS3 to stomp the 360 in sales this year.
