You misunderstand. Even if they're compensated by MS, they still lose a lot of revenue because Gamepass users gradually buy less and less games. So games that come out on Xbox (even of they're NOT on Gamepass) end up selling less because, unless you're a AAA game, the average Xbox players doesn't buy games anymore so your game won't sell on that platform.
It's like restaurants placing vouchers with your meal when your order through Uber Eats. They want to entice you to order through them directly because it's more profitable for them than Uber Eats.
Even though Uber Eats helps with discoverability, it's still preferable for many restaurants to handle the orders themselves.

Idk why some people think it's a huge AAA game. It used to be an A niche game and that's all. The fact that MS purchased them doesn't change that.

Arkane is one of my fave studios and I knew that MS would destroy them one day.
Redfall was only bad because of Bethesda/MS. they didn't deserve this.
And it doesn't change the fact that the game is a boring procedurally generated environment in which your repeat the same actions over and over again with no real purpose. I hate when they say that the game became good.
One game i purchased in early access uses AI image generation to create 2D images. It's one guy churning out a lot of art content when they would've required multiple people to do the same job in the past.
