Stop putting everything into the Xbox 360 channel, damnit.
But Xbox 360's saving grace is its game lineup this year. This Christmas, Xbox 360's lineup of great games and exclusives will be killing PS3. Xbox 360 will have way more better exclusives than PS3 this Christmas: Halo 3, Bioshock, Mass Effect, Ace Combat 6, Blue Dragon, Eternal Sonata, etc., etc.
HOWEVER, the problem here is I have not seen Microsoft announce any exciting exclusives for *AFTER 2007*. What will happen after 2007? After 2007, Xbox 360 will have only Alan Wake (...
If I primarily wanted a video game console, then I wouldn't pay an additional $150 or $200 to buy a Blu-ray player on a PS3, regardless of how hard Sony tried to push it on me.
However, if I was willing to pay for the high-end model of Xbox 360, but the blu-ray player (on a PS3) cost only $50 more, then hell yeah!
If Core is $199, Premium is $299, and Elite is $399 by this Christmas season, then it'll be game over for PS3.
Here's the situation: the price of Core is not low enough to compete with Wii in the price-conscious market segment, while the power and features of Elite are not high enough to compete with PS3 in the power-buyer market segment (yet the prices of an Elite and PS3 are almost the same.) Xbox 360 models just have bad price points all around.
Xbox 360 sold *under* 2 million units.
PS3 sold over 3 million units.
Wii sold over 6 million units.
If that trend continues and sales don't pick up soon, both PS3 and Wii will catch up, and 360 will be dead last in the third place in another 8-9 months.
I love many of the exclusives on Xbox 360, but I'm not a silly fanboy who's too blind too see the trend.
It needs a $100 price cut across all models.
And Microsoft needs to announce more 360 exclusive games for after 2007, because it seems to me that 360 has few high-profile exclusives for after 2007.
Looking at the recent market trend, Xbox 360 will be the dead last in this generation unless there's a $100 price cut across ALL models by the end of this year. (I recommend a $50 price cut now and another $50 before the end of the year.)
$280 for Core? No thanks, I'd go for the Wii because I know it'll be #1 for this generation, and when Wii is #1 it'll have lots of good games down the road.
$450 for Elite? No thanks, I'd pay a meager additional $50 for PS3 t...
Rare gets the financial backing from Microsoft and get to play with Microsoft's money, (which most developers can only dream of.) Yet Rare has not delivered even one killer app on Xbox to their new boss Microsoft. Instead, they are making still games for their one and only true old love, their Nintendo -- using the unlimited resources provided to them by Microsoft.
Those guys at Rare must be loving it. Microsoft needs to stop giving money at developers that take Microsoft'...

It's a PC exclusive. Bioware is concentrating on Mass Effect right now. After Mass Effect, they'll switch over most of their crews to Dragon Age.
In case you have not heard.
So Microsoft sent someone to travel back in time to 1991, (that's even before Playstation 1 came out,) started a company, filed and received patent for "synchronized parallel processing with shared memory", and then fast-forwarded to 16 years later to sue Sony!
Wow. That's amazing!
Which means if Konami makes the game for Xbox 360, Sony will sue Konami for breaking a contract.
Alone In The Dark, The Witcher, Eternal Sonata, and Ace Combat 6 are good titles. That's FOUR good titles.
That's the same number of good titles from Ubisoft at the show: Far Cry 2, Haze, Splinter Cell Conviction, and Assassin's Creed.
I've notices that it's Kotaku that keeps on spreading MGS4 rumors. The MGS4 rumors almost always come from Kotaku. Even OXM has already stopped doing it. Kotaku still refuses to let up.
Kotaku, being anti-Microsoft in most of its articles, just wants to spread such rumors to hype MGS4 and hurt 360 down the road.
Sony has already said they have an exclusive agreement for MGS4. If Konami makes this game for 360, Sony will sue Konami for breaking a contract. End of story.
and they think we're crazy.
Give me Ultima, Fallout or Baldur's Gate over Final Fantasy any day.
Or, better yet, give me Mass Effect!
It's better to look at the overall consensus of many reviews. If 2 reviews say it's average, but all other 98 reviews gives it 90% and over, then it's still a killer app.
So. Wait.
Even $100 price cut is not enough. I want to see some good, solid AAA titles for *AFTER 2007.*
