In the HighDef comparison video the only difference is the ingame brightness which is too high by default. Otherwise they look identical to me. Turning down the ingame brightness on ps4 version is the first thing I did. Kind of a hassle, as you have to guess what looks right.

Ps4 CPU has access to much more memory bandwith than the 20GB from the GPU. It also has access to the main memory pool at 176GB/s.

Secondly the OpenGL API was created for PC, not the PS4. Therefor it is likely that it will have just as big a potentional for improvement.

It also generates less heat due to lower clock frequency.

I expect a significant boost for Ps4 CPU, but little or no boost for the GPU. Time will tell.

API entails a software boost, not hardware boost. So the clock would still remain 1,6Ghz. So we can expect a minimum of 45% increase in perfomance in the CPU, but it seems likely due to my aforementioned reasons to be significantly higher. GPU boost, if any, is unlikely from what I've read. But I could be wrong.

So a new and improved API would not cause the PS4 to heat up.

That being said. Due to the fact that my PS4 allways remain rather silent (as lon...

Mantle boosts low power cpu's about 45% in PC's (estimate for BF4). A PS4 is a much more streamlined peace of hardware, and therefor a higher boost is likely.

From article:"If the number you are giving me is true, than it really is game over Xbox One."

This quote indicates that the boost is significantly higher. How much higher, and how this will affect the GPU and the games is unknown. But it certainly got my attention.

Brutal but honest review. DICE really dropped the ball with BF4. Sad but true.

Sorry about your Ps4 man. These kinds of problems are quite common in the beginning of any console cycle. Luckily there does not seem to be many defective ps4's out there. And as time goes by, the failure rate will drop.

Anyway a bit of advise: Make sure you vacuum the dust of the vents of the ps4 from time to time. Otherwise the cooling will be affected, and the ps4 will get hotter and make more noise.

I hate to admit this, but this looks like something I might actually want to play. At least the single player. Might have a little something to do with the fact that Kevin Spacey is one of my favorite actors.

in a dream world maybe. No, High End PC rigs will have that honor. Higher resolution, better framerate, better AA and maybe some better effects. But looking at that screenshot I don't think it will look that different from the PS4 edition. Although I could be wrong, time will tell.

It's because you're "that guy" that brought up the PC. I love my ps4 but I know very well the PC version will look better.

@theonewhoiswrong

You are wrong. The PC version will most likely feature higher texture resolutions and much better AA among various other things. If you can't accept that then you're a blind fanboy" end quote

ESRAM can handle max 1080p 60fps at 16bit colors. Meaning that Xbone games using 1080p 60fps will look washed out compared to PS4 games using the same 1080p/60fps. Since PS4 has no problem using 32bit colors at 1080p with 60fps. Example Killzone shadowfall MP.

A message to the PC MASTER RACE: The Steam machine is a PC for the livingroom that plays standard PC games, and if you want to stay up to date with the new games. Then you will most likely have to upgrade, when possible, to the next steam machine. Sounds expensive to me.

PS4 games will also improve over time, but with no extra cost of having to upgrade for many years. Another thing: Console games sell alot more than PC games. This means that the game makers will be more likel...

To me, this topic is irrelevant. Why? Simple, because the steambox is a PC, and runs PC games; and will be obsolete by the time it comes on sale, or shortly thereafter. The PS4 is not a PC and will run PS4 games just fine in all its lifetime. Its the experience that matter, not specs on a piece of paper...IMHO

On a personal note: I think Killzone Shadowfall looks amazing. Looking forward to seeing what the PS4 can do when AAA-games like Uncharted and Gran Turismo 7 comes out...

It's bad enough to compare FM5 an Xbone game with GT6 an PS3 game, but seeing that FM5 is graphically only marginally better in that video. That's just sad. Wait until Driveclub comes out. Xbone vs PS4. That would be fair.

Maybe Uncharted reveal at Spyke lee's VGA awards in december. Remember they showed a uncharted teaser at the releaseparty the 15 of november.

fill a glass with golfballs and the glass is full, but that does not mean that the glass cannot contain more stuff. You could add smaller balls to that glass, and then sand, then water.... you get the picture. A CPU works more or less in the same way. 90-95% of max activity does not tell you anything about how effective the code is. It mearly states how much activity there is in the CPU. Hope this helps.

For example: you can use 100% of a CPU to calculate the value of pi, but...
