A year ago you would have said the same thing about The Witcher on Switch.

Their long term goal is to force the other platform holders to either accept xbox on their platform or to force other platforms onto xbox. Either way it's being absorbed by Microsoft and reducing the competition.

The problem with users or downloads is double counting. Counting people who play on PC and console or gamepass owners who use family share and everyone uses their own account. Or just double counting used sales and rentals ect.
Sales is a 1:1 representation
Users is a who ever we feel like counting today representation.
Huh... there is room for all sorts of new ideas. And when we're right about to have newer more powerful consoles using cutting edge PC stock how can you say Nintendo has held anyone back?
Gaming continues ideas come and go just like the endless cycle of humanity's progression since we started using tools.
And saying Nintendo games are are low budget or out to make a quick buck really just shows how little actual knowledge you have about the Ninte...
I could see Sony stacking the holiday of 2019 with all their big games, then dropping the price of PS4 to super cheap to flush the shelves then I still am sticking by my hunch the PS5 is going to launch early in 2020 beating Scarlett to market and hitting that massive build up of games in early 2020.
It seems like a good plan to make money and sell consoles.
The game always has had the best driving physics and the most detailed tracks the best player ranking system and by far the best community. And those things combined make it the best competitive racing game on the market.
And BTW the game had a strong launch but it's the continued sales of the past two years that brought it so high. That's not name, that's quality.
