PC gaming could never really die. If PC gaming suddenly disappeared, so would almost ever technological advance in 3d graphics.
Consoles mainly use hammy-down PC components. With PC gaming pushing video cards to their limits, forcing companies like AMD and Nvidia to push out new and faster cards, that would simply disappear and so would console gaming.
Some PC devs, like Valve really dislike working with consoles.
Development is significantly harder due to consoles being a fixed platform. You have extremely tight memory constraints and resources. With the 360, you can't even count on it having a harddrive, and with the PS3, you have a heavily multi-threaded CPU which makes programming for it a nightmare.
Christ, you console people and your UE3 hate.
I'm pretty sure that Gabe Newell was the one who brought the Quake II engine to D3D.
this has nothing to do with graphics, or PC gaming...
Shipping one mildy successful game does not make the engine itself successful. Call it successful when it ships 50 million titles or so.
You guys don't really understand what a "successful engine" really means, do you.
The words of a true fanboy.
The KZ2 engine is nothing but a pretty face. One fairly successful game shipped? Wow. Stellar.
Console holocaust.
Maybe because he's the CEO of the company, and he's entitled to his opinion?
Gabe himself doesn't do much if any programming at Valve.
Developing for the 360 isn't the same as PC, but it's a hell of a lot easier to port code to the 360, than to re-write the entire program in order to get it to function on the PS3.
Gabe Newell doesn't like the PS3, Xbox 360, or Windows Vista. You think anyone else is complaining besides the PS3 folks?
No Half-Life or Metal Gear Solid?
Fail list.
August through November of 2007 were the best months in my gaming history. I have every one of those games and I still play most of them to this day.
Some daily. (TF2 and Crysis)
(I do regret buying Hellgate: London though)
Nice grammar in the title, HipHopRetard.
Lol.
At least Sony has a decent advertising team.
Lol that's actually a good commercial.
Holy balls.
2 teraflops? Is my GTX 295 seriously going to get bested by a single GPU already?
Fffff.
Good thing I have an X58 motherboard in case I decide to upgrade to a new card (or two) sooner than expected.
This will give PC gaming a new lease on life. No longer will the poor ol' console guys be left out in the cold because they can't afford a good PC.
Lol.
Oh yeah, because PC gamers are a myth on this site, right?
When someone says that PC graphics are better in a PS3 article, those people MUST be 360 gamers in disguise.
And when PC gamers say that they'll get the PC version of a 360/PC gamer they MUST be PS3 fanboys in disguise.
Dumbass.
I actually bought the Postal movie.
It was terrible but it was also the funniest movie I've ever seen :V
