Try and hunt down a backwards compatible PS3. The upscaling is decent. Obviously it's a shame it they all arn't BC. I'm holding my breath for the warriors HD remake.
You are right though. Dreamcast got just about every arcade game ported perfectly. This gen sucks for real arcade games. Instead of house of the dead 4 and a light gun we get something like Disney and Kinetic. But Dreamcast was so much more. Internet and VGA SD (480p) and a variety of games to suit most gamers. Its the only console that has a catalogue of games I can still play. Every game now feels the same all running off modified unreal engines.

The house of the dead, Virtual Cop, Daytona, Sega Rally, Scud Racer, Streets of rage, Virtual Fighter, Dynamite Cop, Harrier, Shenmue, Yakuza series and you get the picture became hits world wide because they were all "trash games". That's a pretty irrelevant analogy. Besides it being a subjective alalogy, did you think about how fast does one chew? Or how often you eat the same meal before growing tired of it? Or how many ways you can cook a chicken? Don't compare games with movies either. Movies are made to be viewed in a single session unlike gam...
Launching first isn't necessarily the best move. A late launch can be a devastating advantage over the competitor if the technology is a step above.

Your not going to notice a thing with 4k resolutions on your 1080p TV. The only way is with next gen TVs. Historically a new gen TV won't come out with every new gen console. Im not saying it can't happen but it's a big ask for people to upgrade their Home theatre at the same speed of their consoles.

I agree. I'm on my second Xbox and most of my friends are too. Xbox perhipials are expensive too, not to mention paying for Xbox live since 07. I'd agree that so many of the Xbox sales would be people shelling out for a replacement.

While what the author of the article said may hold some truth. It's really no different to cheer leading and F1 pit lane girls. Gaming is entertainment too and actually engages the same part of the brain as sex and lust, so for better or worse I don't see it changing any time soon.
There is no way Dead Island should be on that list. It was far from perfect and had the lamest most disappointing end stage but was also alot of fun playing with friends. I encounted barely any more glitches than most other games. I guess some people played this game in single player or something. Like Borderlands, some games can't shine in single player. Playing a campaign in coop with friends shouldn't be understated.
