If you currently use steam 'big picture mode' beta you can already get a clear idea what it is. I must say its pretty neat for me since I hook up my PC to my TV.
I'd say Steam will be pushing for more plug and play and default support with controllers and settings.
I know alot of people that will buy a steam box now if the hardware represents good value
Not sure you you're talking at, but I have all the consoles and a high end PC. All I can say is Most PC people or multiplatform owners just think its petty comparing graphical superiority over consoles that have almost the same amount of power and limitations.
The thing is, if you want an idea of what the next gen will look right now like you have to reference from a high end PC.
I disagree. Norison said it, plus games like bf3 are gimped for consoles to run.
Some games you are right but when frame rates take a hit the gameplay can suffer

Online should be free. You kiddies are fooling yourself trying to justify paying for online. Finally after 6 years most of my friends (and me) have migrated over to steam and/or PSN where online is free, the way it should be.
Party chat is great but not worth $70 (oz) per year. Screw paying for online.

Nice find. The thing I don't like about eurogamer comparisons is they never measure Frame rate.
Frame rate is move important to me than having an few extra shrubs of grass.
Any visible difference between any of the consoles these days isn't worth arguing about. They are all punch for punch.

The current 7970m is still more powerful than the upcoming 8000. There is going to be a 8xxx released in Q2 next year that should beat it. But we'll be lucky to see that make its way into the consoles.
