I disagree to a point. Sales absolutely do matter to consumers. For example, with game development, a really great game may not get a sequel that it deserves if sales are too low to recoup development costs. On the hardware side, what happened to Sega? Not enough sales so that had to quit the league, allowing MS into the fray, which has been bad for consumers because of all the exclusive DLC deals going down.
Lol, I've had mine for 3 days (My 40GB one broke and I couldn't see the point getting it fixed). Very happy with it and Uncharted 2 so far.
I get the feeling that I'm gonna get slammed when I post my review.... Probably thinking around a 8.5-9.0 is about what it deserves, although I haven't played the online yet.
I have to admit to not being a fan of RPG's. I never really got into Fallout 3, although I liked Oblivion. So the question is, do I buy this game or not?
Resistance 2 is my second favourite console FPS on PS3. Not because of the singleplayer, although this was still pretty good if you ask me, but the multiplayer - It is awesome, especially the online co-op.
What they need to do:
New types of epically huge enemies
Improved graphics - hopefully up to around Killzone 2 level if not better
Keep and expand on the online co-op
Mod'able weapons (add scopes, stabilisers, sepressors etc)
Improved AI ...
Polyphony (Gran Turismo devs) are like a giant holding the midget (Turn 10) at arms length kicking them in the balls. Doesn't really deserve the term 'war' if you look at it sensibly, like me :)
@ below:
1: What exactly are the top PC racing simulators?
2: Forza is definitely closer to PC than GT, because GT is further in front of it than Forza is behind it.
3: Who are you to say that people who believe that GT is better than Forza are wrong? It is opinion, ...
I'm not saying that the onlien doesn't deserve a 10/10, but he frankly hasn't played it, otherwise why isn't it mentioned in the review?
My list would go something like this (in no particular order)
Killzone 2
Infamous
Colin McRae Dirt 2
Red Faction: Guerrilla
Operation Flashpoint 2: Dragon Rising - So long as they release a patch quick smart fixing the AI bugs and a few other things where they just got lazy. Otherwise is the best military sim ever.
And possibly Uncharted 2 - Note: The only reason I'm puting this down as possible is that I'm only 4 hours in, and havent had tim...
Agreed, but it is ridiculous to try and label it as a new IP. And why would you try and distance it from one of the best games this gen anyway?
Will finally get to play the game in about an hour - would have liked to play earlier but PS3 broke so what can you do (as it turns out, buy a brand new 250Gb slim with the game packed in). Still deserves more sales if the reviews are to be believed, which given the quantity of perfect scores I'm sure they are. Well done ND.
@ below, You may well be joking, but 1: who cares? and 2: Not true - took ODST a week to sell 2 million, and Halo Wars still hasnt sold 2 million (Correct...
How can you rate the online 10/10. Given that you omitted to even mention it in your admittedly short review, I can't help but wonder if you actually played it at all.
is this the best debut for a western game ever? Probably not, but not bad, shows that the Japs have some good taste after all.
Its scary how in at least half of the pictures, the cars look better in Forza 2. The environments look better across the board in FM3, but otherwise, how dissapointing are the graphics...
It might have been overrated, but it wasn't THAT bad. It was acceptable. In any case, I rather liked the Resistance 2 final boss battle. The only problem was the swarms, a bit lame I have to say.
How did Call of Duty bring in weapon unlocks? Many games before it had this, Battlefield 2 is an obvious example, and it was out a few years before CoD 4. Same goes for XP, how do you think you ranked up in that game (BF2)
I am not saying that BF2 brought in these features, I know they didn't, but it was the most obvious example I could think of.
Wow, what a revelation this is. Every fanboy and his dog could have figured that one out. In any case, Natal looks pretty cool, and I sort of hope it succeeds to a degree. I however would rather just sit down and use a controller/key board and mouse to play my games.
It's as simply as this, if you think the dogs are a good idea for a balanced and fun multiplayer, then you are insane/stupid/a noob. If you think they are one of the worst additions in the series, I agree with you.
yep, those other people have it right.
In any case, I have some incredibly bad news to share with you all. Thanks to an extended (5+hour) run of DiRT 2 on a 30+ degree celsius day, my PS3 is currently broken, and we sit just nine days from the release of UC2 (in Australia). All is not lost however, and I vow to purchase a new PS3 on that day if I have not recieved my console back from Sony, I need to play this game!
Lol, just got back from the hospital, he made me laugh so hard I did my rib in. In any case, those explosions would do North Korea proud, let alone Mr Bay. I'm hoping to but one of those 6Gb Nvidia 300 Gfx cards for Crysis 2, that should be able to handle it ok I'd say.
@9.4 - I actually thought that the explosions in KZ2 were the weakest part of the game graphically, very low detail compared to other games, even on consoles.
You know what else is a given in any BF game - bugs and connection issues.
