Yeah, even I, someone guilty of this myself, have to say that PC vs Console graphics comparison are kinda stupid. Having said that, the facial detail is pretty good, textures and shaders are overall good also.
<Open Rant>
In any case, it is even more stupid to say that the gameplay in HR is crap, when you haven't played it. From what I've seen of Modern Warfare 2 and Bad Company 2, BC's multiplayer has the feel of epic about it, while MW2's doesn't. But I ...
Agreed, can't wait for Crysis 2. Will pick up the PC version primarily, but if I have the money, I'll get the PS3 version as well because it wouldn't surprise me if it has a bigger and more longer lasting online community.
Hopefully they make Sandbox 3 easier to use for beginners, and I wonder if they will intergrate it with the consoles. If they do, it would almost certainly be simpler, but the next best is Far Cry2, and its mod tool is pathetic.
Just gotta ge...
Howdy, good review, although you may have been a bit harsh - maybe. Anyway, you've got to keep in mind that it is a downloadable game, so you can't expect insanely good graphics, for a 565MB download, they aren't bad.
I have to agree with you on the ballance issues though. I don't know why, but starting with Bad Company, they for some reason got rid of the autobalance, why? Sure it was a pain in the arse if you got changed team, but it was neccesary, you don't even get the opti...
There were many aspects of Crysis that were better than Warhead, and likewise Warhead had many aspects better than Crysis.
Character building and the spread of action are two clear examples were Warhead was better, the game was also slightly better optimized (alhough low graphics - not that I play on low - are horrid). But on the other hand, the final boss battle in Crysis was far and above better that the one in Warhead - Warheads major boss battle was far too easy to beat wi...
Just so you know, I mostly agree with you, but you will still get bashed by the fanboy masses. The only really great bit about the graphics are the textures. Lighting and shaders aren't anything to get excited over.
@ Nathan
Yeah, its fun to rile them up, and now I actually have something to base my rantings on. And I knew it wouldn't take long for someone to mention AI - seriously, it doesn't take much computational power to do AI!!
And by the way, saying that the online isn't great, and then backing that up by comparing it to two of the best online games ever (Halo and COD 4, KZ2 isn't quite in the same league, but close) is pretty dumb.
However, I have to ...
It would be good to see some different types of games using this engine, racers, RPG's, MMO's (they say it has MMO capabilities built in), etc. Would probably look great for all of them.
EDIT: Lol at droid and bot, you sound like a seasoned pro. And that extra pixel is there, are you blind? :)
EDIT 2: Who is surprised that the only CE3 news to get hot was a graphics comparison?
Here is a quick fix for you, turn up the screen brightness!! No, oh well, I tried.
Lol, at least they arent analyising it pixel-by-pixel.
Well, yet.
Well put it this way KnaveX, Uncharted is like an entire generation behind compared to Crysis. So yeah, it doesn't make a lot of sense to be over-awed at UC2.
EDIT @ Comment 15: There are many computers around that can run the game at it highest settings with full AA (16XQ compared to Uncharted's 2-4X). Hell, even my dual core 2.4 (PS3 has an 8 core by the way) with 512mb graphics can run the game at High with very stable frame rate, and it still looks better than Uncharted 1 ...
They are pretty good, GT5 Prologue has near perfect scenery, it is even more amazing.
I'm sorry, but Crysis physics far out-do Uncharted physics. In Uncharted, can you cut down trees pixle by pixel, and then pick up your cutting, throw it around, bash people with it, didn't think so. In uncharted, do you have 3d ocean that is effected by topography, wind speed and direction, didn't think so. In uncharted, can you pick or otherwise interact, realistically might I add, with almost the entire world? didn't think so. The list goes on
Uncharted better physics than Cr...
Console only players are missing out so bad
Looks alright, although next to reality, doesn't look 'so good', still better than most games though. Lighting engine needs a bit of work (look how much brighter katmandu is compared to UC2, radiosity would make rest look better), colours are all wrong, low-def floor texture and those odd clouds (look like vertical light shafts) bring it down, otherwise good work.
I know ND have put a lot of work into the art direction, but their version looks, well, bland. How they manage this...
My point exactly.
Lol is that guy for real: 'price doesn't really matter, what matters is the consoles image.' Um, yer, thats why in the middle of the RRoD debacle, MS drops the price on the 360 and its sales A) decline due to bad brand image? Or, B) Grow because it was cheaper?
I'll let you answer that for yourselves.
Fortunetly, gamers (I hope) are not as stupid and are more wise with our money.
God, given the flop that was the latest GI Joe movie, this one will suck. And also, its splinter cell, and because its (conviction) not coming to PS3 it (the movie) must suck, right?
You are probably right Panda, it's hell trying to build a level without a mouse and keyboard. Anyway, maybe they could make it so that you can use sandbox on PC and port it to console so you can upload levels for console and PC.
@ Major_Tom: Not many people enjoyed this game as much as me I know, but I did really like it and that is reflected in my review score. I'm not sure that its consoles holding down PC's so much, its that PC's just kept advancing so fast that people got ...
