DX11 added minimal support for ray-tracing, and by 2012 DX12 will be out, which could well support it properly. By then we will also have been through another generation of intel cpu's and nvidia/ati graphics cards, so i think 2012/13 is certainly possible.

jetlian - the problem isnt that raytracing isnt made for realtime, its that the ps3 (and 360) arent made for real time ray tracing.

What a stupid article, why is he picking on IGN?

The game currently holds an 84 on metacritic, and there are 5 other reviewers who give it a 75, and one giving it a 60... For what its worth, the user score is exactly the same as the critic score, 84.

What's pathetic about this article is that the original date was 2nd for America, 4th for australia and 5th for Europe.....

I've been through this before, people should care about sales numbers to a point. Think of an original game that you really liked. If it performs well, it will get a sequel, something that chances are you will be glad to hear. However, if a game performs poorly, it isn't going to get a sequel, so you miss out!

@ Turbine, I needn't further explain the last sentence of my above post, but you're obviously a 'special' case, so just for you....

If you were commisioned by Sony to do artwork for an unannounced high profile game, and you showed the artwork off as being for that certain game, do you think Sony would be particularly happy?

Now consider you are a freelance artist. You need to show off your works in order to gain commision, and so you conceive ...

Edit: look at Vanquish, 12th, that's almost sad. Not unexpected, but sad. What's even sadder is Enslaved in 31st! Guess people aren't after third person action right now....

I know the people on here think ND are gods, but people do lie to protect their interests...

Yes, and David Jaffe denied Twisted Metal PS3's existence for nearly 2 years, and then E3 rolls, and whadaya know, BAMN! Twisted Metal PS3 is real.

What is your point anyway? A guilty man is still guilty even if he pleads not guilty, or even if he believes he is innocent...

@ pirate - sure the vast majority of the games on iPhone/touch are not hardcore games.

Let's look at PS3 for a second. Games like flower, and flow to name but two are in no sense hardcore games. If you want to try and make out they are, then iPhone games like Osmos, Angry Birds and Plants V Zombies must surely be considered in the same league. Yet Flower particularly is held in particularly high regard around here (as it should be, it's a good game). Please don't ...

HOC, you really are a bell end buddy. What is gimmicky about the 3DS?

The 3DS is targeting a young audience, and young people love 3D. So catering to your market is not a gimmick, but very sensible. Sure, the graphics will suck as with all nintendo products, and the games will be questionable from a gamers perspective (although a lot of hardcore games have been announced for the system), but the reason Nintendo is unstoppable, particularly in the handheld market is that they...

Me either. I've been playing lots of console (PS3) shooters online lately, and there is heaps and heaps of lag. Why? No dedicated servers. Recently I bought medal of honor for PC, and to my joy, no lag what so ever.

Bad Company on ps3 was a serious lag fest, but its not dices fault, it's the lack of dedicated servers.

I'm undecided. I'm sure if I had remained PC exclusive it would be more hardcore, and have better graphics. However, the larger audience on console may well have made it possible to put more time and resources into building an awesome game.

Move has not sold 2.5 million units through to consumers. It is absolutely unbelievable that people believe it has. Shipped to outlets, sure, but not to consumers.

Look at sales data for move enabled games. They have sold less in total than 2.5 million post move release...
