They've actually made at least 4 games in 11 (not ten) years. They are: Far Cry, Crysis, Crysis Warhead and Crysis 2 (the later hasnt been released but must surely be nearly finished). They're games have all rated very positively which reflects Crytek's ability to make great games.
In any case, people get excited about games made by great developers. Look at Uncharted 3, GTA V, Agent and Battlefield 3. Nothing is known about this games, and already people are g...
Indeed, 10 years would be my bet on when a handheld will have PS3/Xbox 360 level hardware.
The issues are enormous. The biggest being that it is currently impossible to fit enough transistors for the CPU and GPU into such a small area, the next biggest being heat, followed by getting enough ampage and wattage to the processors at all with a built in battery, let alone have the thing run for any length of time. Then theres the price of the thing.
It is for...
This is such a bad idea from DICE, its a foregone conclusion that the 360 version will win because it has a significantly larger player population.
To make it fair, why not take the total kills obtained by say the top 1000 players on each platform and then giving the map to the consoles with the best elite players.
Level of detail is quite high considering this could be from the very first round of concepting.
The PSP is 6 years old, of course modern phones like the iPhone can handle PSP quality graphics. Look at rage on iPhone, that unreal engine based game, real racing and many others for an example.
From reports weve seen that the PSP has (from my memory someone may wanna check them) a ~ 700mhz processor with around 32mb ram. iPhone 4 has 1ghz processor and more ram/graphics ram.
Edit: after research it seems the PSP only has a 333mhz processor, and yeah, 32mb ...
The laws are hardly super tough here in Aus, I mean games like killzone, fallout, bioshock etc which get rated 17+ in other countries are only 15+ here... How many decent games have been prevented from releasing in australia. Before mentioning l4d 2, valve did not need to make half the cuts they did to get it through, look at dead rising which got through unchanged for example
The content maybe alright, but the writing ability of the authour is somewhat lacking.
Im an hour in so far and bored sh*tless, and I absolutely loved ACII. Ive watched others who are further along and it seems fun but I dont feel like pushing through the boring first bit when i have Black Ops and GT5 to keep me busy.
Quite frankly The Nanosuit is the coolest looking future armour ever. Certainly beats Halos chunky steel look anyway!
But yeah, doesn't look like Crysis, and besides Crytek have a couple of studios working on unannounced projects (off the top of my head Frankfurt and UK are finishing C2, Budapest is working on kingdoms, Sofia and Black Sea are as far as we know sitting idle. So it's easily conceivable that they are working on Crysis off shoots like Warhead, but I doub...
You actually believe that they would delay a game until after Christmas, the biggest games sales period, for only 2 million big ones? Now way, not even for 20 million.
Does that not go without saying?
Jokes aside, it sounds like Crytek are taking a good approach with getting heaps of people from the outside to play through before shipping. Listen up Activision, and start doing the same thing with COD so that we don't have repeats of the napalm barrel fiasco in black ops or the same games spawn system issues, particularly on Nuketown!
Chowed down on some Kentucky Fried Chicken before playing it, and then ditching it after a while because of the lag.
Fortunately, the lag has improved drastically since then.
Consoles, specifically ps3. I know if I wanted a better game I would have got it for pc, but friends all went ps3 so I did likewise.
How did treyarch manage to make the game so much worse than mw2 tech wise. The graphics are frankly worse, the loading is slower, the lag is horrendous (if this is an issue with my connection I'd be surprised seeing as I get 30mbits/second), the menu layout is worse.
Gameplay wise, the guns are worse, the killstreaks are worse, the melée is broken (hit detection is fuc**d), maps are worse.
There is nothing I find to be better in black ops than in mw...
@ Guncontrol - I enjoy your sarcasm, but its a pity it's actually only been 3 years since Crysis 1, and the delay is unsubstantiated. As if Crytek haven't been working on tesselation for ages anyway.
That's because this in an unsubstantiated rumour. Crytek/EA have said nothing about a delay, nor have any inside 'sources'.
Yes, I do believethe game deserves higher than a 9, I think I gave it a 9.5 in my review.
Sure, the gameplay is simple, but so is every other shooter on the market. Look, people want simple, that's why Power Struggle mode in Crysis got shitcanned for being too complex, even though in reality you just have to capture and hold a few different types of objectives, not that hard to fathom.
If this game really is only a 7 at best, then why are there still, a year on, so many people playing it. Mediocre games do not hold crowds of the seize that MW2 does regardless of how well they sell.
It may not be perfect, and there are many balancing issues.l But the same goes for Bad Company 2 (noob-tube sometimes doesnt kill with direct hit), Halo (too many to mention), Medal of Honor (previously long range 1 shot kill snipers now can't kill with a body shot from eve...
Yeah, that seems to be it. In anycase, consoles sometimes break, if this happens during a firmware installation, that doesnt meen that the firmware is at fault, it could just have overheated from being on too long!
