It's the same reason the WiiU won't play your Gamecube discs but will play digital versions of them. Today's gamers have proven that *generally* they have nothing better to do with their money than buy DLC and re-buy games they've already bought once or twice before. You can't really blame Nintendo for doing what any company would do today.

I don't think you can count most of the iOS stuff on display as games. I would wager there's a good bit of game based apps in there.
But console gaming is dying there's no doubt about that. Thank the publishers that keep abusing DLC and re-releasing old games, and the dickholes that keep lapping it up. Also the focus on graphics and high production values has all but killed diversity in game design.
Of course there's no 'official' price drop, else it would've been announced with the new model. If they don't permanently lower it by Black Friday though they've seriously lost all touch with reality.
Why would they be proud of this? This is exactly why the Vita is a failure. It's not tempting anyone but the most hardcore.
It used to be that every 360 version was better, now it's the other way around. I guess developers are finally catching on that the 360 doesn't matter outside of the US, where it barely has a lead anyway.
