MS buying Bethesda and Activision is not a show of power anymore than it is a need to remain relevant. If they didn't buy them, they would fade even more. Sony doesn't have to spend on this level because throughout previous generations, they've been building their stable of quality developers. There's a difference between buying to show power and buying to keep up. MS is the latter of the 2 options.

If you can't afford the company's asking price, perhaps gaming isn't for you. I've got a Series X, but do not subscribe to GP because I like buying my games. The gaming industry is something I love enough to put my money into.

GP is the bargain bin, and my personal taste is often found on the top shelf. The full price is good for the industry, but MS's community isn't willing to play by those terms. Enters, Gamepass.

Actually, an asset sheet measures what is owned not accessed. This is how true value is assessed. Access is only an easement allowed based on certain conditions.

Ownership nullifies said conditions and allows one to set their own terms. It's better known as freedom.

Furthermore, proper research is done by analyzing the data. If GP was so great, MS would not have pay companies to put their games on the service. I digress, as most are too blinded by t...

No, you research the game, then YOU purchase it. This is the way that the industry cycle works. It's the sustainable nature of any successful market.

Because, otherwise, you wouldn't be willing to pay for it.

So toxic.
Fact: PS5 exclusive, meaning the only CONSOLE featuring the game. Is it on XB or Switch? No....PS exclusive.

Fact: PS isn't losing a game because it's featured on PC. To lose, it means that it wouldn't be available on PS at all.

Prove that indies on XB are superior to PS? Just saying anything to be contrary, even if it means there's no facts.

Is it really? In the dust? You guys act like sales eclipses legacy. Okay, the Switch is selling more; now what? Do you get some kind of reward for choosing the most purchased entertainment device? Be sure to put that on your resume in the future.

My purchase is attributed to those sales, but it has failed to keep me engaged. Sales don't measure sustainable interest only who was willing to try it.

Did it really beat Playstation 1 in anything but sales? Just because it beat the sales numbers doesn't diminish how much more impactful the PS1 was over the Switch. How many ICONIC games were birthed on the PS1? Now, name a game on the Switch that can match the impact Final Fantasy 7 or Metal Gear Solid had on the industry?

The Switch is much like the Wii, it appeals to a vastly casual market harboring no extra expense to get the most out of it. While both the PS4, PS5, and XB all require high definition equipment to get the most out of them. Also, you must factor in that casual players far outnumber the hard-core market. Much like there are far more McDonalds than Eagle's Nests. More Hondas are being sold than Porsche.

You see, most people often measure sales as a way to determine winner...

And who's beating who has no more validity than what games you're able to play on your console.

We've been playing it all day on PS5. I am completely enjoying it. They made something new for the genre and deserve every penny they gain from it. Purchased over GP.

Seen it was on GP, but purchased it on PS5. Loving this game, hats off to Ubi. Deserves to get paid for their efforts.

GP is good for budget gamers who don't want to invest anything more than $15 dollars into the market. Sure, it allows casuals to play what they've never been willing to purchase, but that just aim to amplify the fact that it's about self, not the industry.

MS is definitely appealing to the self minded community, which will be its demise. Everything they're doing is Sega all over again. This makes sense since their game division is comprised of former Sega em...

Actually, even with both the Bethesda and Activision purchases, they're 3rd coming behind Tencent(2nd) and Sony(1st).

How do you know? Do you not remember MS's largest developer, Bungie? They couldn't stand MS and recently, Activision. Perhaps this deal was seen by them as they just recently left Activision as well. This speaks volumes. Bungie skyrocketed MS to the moon. They were willing to even ditch Halo to leave. Just saying.

@Ready Player

Upset? It is in no measure, a small gesture, purchasing Activision. Though, with restructures, politics, team building, lawsuits, and development constraints as factors of acquisition, MS might have bitten off far more than they can handle. What I'm seeing is a whole lot of wishful thinking going on. I also see the same with the Bethesda purchase; Sony is silent.

Silence and the lack of reaction exudes confidence and strategy; this is u...

@Obscure

Flight, Age, Halo, Forza, and Gears were established long before Phil stepped on the scene. What are you going on about? You're attempting to give credit where it's not due.

Scores are fine, but they can also be bought, which appears to be MS's way. Halo's online support is down 41%, coming behind a 75% drop with Forza. Does Phil get the credit for that, too? Furthermore, there are plenty of games that are critical successes but c...
