Nintendo really doesn't seem to have a well thought out plan for the future, just like they didn't have a plan for the Wii U. They just seem to cobble gimmicks into whatever hardware they produce, hoping it will catch on. The Switch could be a better option (in terms of a handheld device), but only if Nintendo genuinely puts some effort into the design and specifications of the handheld.

Unfortunately all of Nintendo's hardware for over a decade has been low-s...

Agree with the comments above. The Wii did catch on fast and sell tons of units, but it died early when people realized that it was nothing more than a cheap gimmick. So while it made Nintendo a lot of money, it ultimately damaged Nintendo's reputation in the gaming industry and community. Most of its games were cheap shovelware garbage, the waggle gimmick was awful, and the specs were a joke. Unfortunately Nintendo tried a similar approach with the Wii U, and it failed miserably. Let'...

@gprime - I don't see the problem. Right under the headline above (on N4G), he wrote: "Live better, shameless: Walmart joins forces with re-seller scum, retailer lists hard-to-find NES Classic for a whopping $496.97."

So why complain if all the information is right above, before you even visit the site?

Did you even read the article? This is a 3rd party seller on Walmart.com, not Walmart itself.

Who cares if the flash memory is faster, when there is so little of it that you can barely fit a single game? Why would you make excuses for this terrible, cheap design decision?

Face the truth: Nintendo cut every possible corner on the design of the Wii U console, all to accommodate the high cost of the gamepad gimmick. They completely bungled the design, leaving the system unable to compete with even the previous generation consoles that came out 6-7 years before it. Inst...

But the Wii U can't play any current generation games, and the few it has in its library are mostly pretty mediocre (unless you're a diehard Nintendo fan). The poor design of the console assured that most 3rd party developers would skip it. I'd much rather have a PS4 or XB1, both far better designed consoles with much larger libraries of much better games.

Bottom line, the Wii U was a poorly designed console, crippled by an unappealing gimmick, and with a tiny ...

Who cares if the Wii U is "energy efficient", when the entire purpose of the console is to play games? Did you forget about the purpose of a VIDEO GAME CONSOLE? Which is, of course, to deliver video games in the best way possible? Power consumption is a really poor argument, if that is all you can come up with. "Efficiency" doesn't matter if the specs are poor from Day One.

In the future, as Wii U gamepads fail (and they do all the time), Wii U cons...

Totally agree, Nintendo is still living in it's own little bubble, where gimmicks are all that matters.

25gb is a totally pitiful amount of storage, so you have no point at all. My PS4 has 500gb of storage built in, 20 times more than the Wii U. I have many PS4 games that wouldn't even fit in the Wii U's pitiful 25gb of usable space (like Doom and Black Ops 3).

Stop making excuses for Nintendo's poor design of the Wii U, and just admit that they screwed up.

Wii U gamepads are more prone to failure than any other console controllers. Why? Because they have many additional features cobbled in, such as a screen. Of course they will fail, it's just a matter of time. At least with other consoles, you have easy options for replacement controllers. Here's one article about it:

http://www.technologytell....

You simply said that the "tech inside the Wii U was great", and I pointed out many areas where it really wasn't. Who cares if the gamepad has good latency displaying games, if the rest of the console is mediocre at best? Having that feature doesn't make up for the rest of the package, which clearly failed to deliver.

No analog triggers is a missing feature of the gamepad (and the other Wii U controllers) that directly impacts games, specifically racing ga...

"I think that the tech inside the Wii U was great, but it also raised costs for the Wii U tremendously."

Actually the technology inside the Wii U was far from "great". Even though it came out in 2012, it had the following issues:

- Only 2gb of RAM, with only 1gb available for games
- No internal HDD (or even a bay for one)
- Very small internal storage of 32gb (of which only 25gb is usable)
- Weak CPU (1.24...

Unfortunately the Wii U was crippled by the gamepad gimmick, leaving the base console completely unable to compete with even previous generation consoles. The gamepad really was a fatal flaw in the design of the console; if it breaks, there are no reasonable priced replacement units available (replacement units cost over 100 bucks). Therefore if your gamepad fails, your Wii U becomes a useless brick.

You hit the nail on the head. No matter how much websites like Gamingbolt try to hype up the "Scorpio" (which is nothing more than some fantasy specs on paper), the lack of games is going to be a huge problem.

Totally agree. Are we going to have to hear an endless stream of "Phil Spencer thinks" articles about a console that doesn't even exist? Really pathetic.

Unfortunately for Phil Spencer, the "Scorpio" doesn't even exist yet, it's nothing more than some vague fantasy specs on paper. It was really sleazy that Microsoft announced the system way before they even had a design for it; obviously it was a poor attempt to divert attention away from the PS4 Pro.

What brand/models of HDDs did you get, if I may ask? I'm planning to upgrade my PS4 to a 2TB as well.

Easy solution, just don't bother to visit the website. I never do.
