This game is looking HUGE and deep. And runs at 60fps!
I remember that. I also remember the Microsoft executive saying they hoped to sell 1 BILLION Xbox Ones.
But sure, @TicklefistCP, 21 million is "not bad". It's also over a million less than we thought they'd sold thanks to VGChartz estimates...but it's "not bad". It's only half of it's nearest competitor and the gap is growing, but it's "not bad".
Lol
Looks like VGChartz was pretty close, but was over-tracking series XS by around a million sales. They show them at 22m through to May 27th, with YTD sales being 25.5% down, while PS5 is 127.1% up.
Lol I'm sorry, but that has to be bollocks.
^ crazyCoconuts, that's kinda the issue here though; they're not losing money in the short term - we're WAY past the short term at this stage. Microsoft have had to bail out xbox and at some point, they'll re-evaluate that position if it doesn't rectify itself, as we know from the past where they considered selling the division.
There comes a point when it's no longer about Microsoft and becomes the concern of the shareholders. microsoft coining it i...
No. You're seeing with emotion and thinking you're being attacked for enjoying cheap gaming - you're not.
The subject here stems from a developer's comments, about how they're impacted by subscription services, which is why that's the angle being discussed. The benefit to the gamer is a well-trodden subject and has been touted across the industry for years.
Good. I take it these companies that do use AI instead of humans will pass the cost savings on to the consumer, right? Thought not.
So I'd rather humans were kept in jobs, even if it means waiting longer for games to come out. Yes, I'm the one that queues at the supermarket for 15 minutes rather than using the self-checkout. People need jobs - I'm not interested in making the rich richer at the expense of the little people.
^ @CrimsonWing69, I'm saying they could use TIMED exclusivity to attempt to draw gamers back to xbox. After that, release it on other platforms to recoup losses and hopefully turn a profit, which is nigh-on impossible (on their sole platform, with their current install base) for anything approaching a AAA budget game.
Maybe keep one or two games 'fully' exclusive... and then announce them down the line for other platforms if the worst comes to the worst.
It can't flatten, as this is a cumulative graph. This was after just six weeks, though, and we're way beyond that at this stage. Launches since release have been stronger on PSVR2, so I expect it's still doing comparatively well.
Important to note, is that the six week period for PSVR was moving towards the Christmas period, whereas the PSVR2 was moving towards summer. It's hard to compare, in all honesty, until we get a full year picture, but I'd say PS...
No - you're misunderstanding my words. PlayStation and Switch both have install bases large enough to take larger budget games into profit territory on their own. This also brings the benefit of building brand expectations and value.
Xbox, for the most part, doesn't have this luxury today. So, you end up with lower budget (and often lower quality) games, unless you open them up (at some stage) to where the lions share of the market is. Momentum is important and they...
This should come as no surprise to anyone, given how xbox sells compared to PlayStation or Switch.
It also highlights why it's dumb to go full exclusive on their IPs. It would make more sense to attempt to draw gamers to their floundering platform with timed exclusivity and mop up the sales on other platforms 6 months to a year later.
In the unlikely event this changes the xbox install base forecast, they could then go full exclusive at a time when it...
Yes - and this is what most people understand.
Yet, occasionally, a random developer will stick their head above the parapet and weakly defend Gamepass. When they're currently under contract, they don't want to bite the hand that feeds and risk future games going unpublished / unpromoted / unnoticed, because that also risks them losing out on microtransaction revenue.
^ Everybody else gets it, @Lightning77. If you don't by now, that's a YOU problem, my friend.
Right? It makes my blood run cold, it's really getting old.
Wait, but that would mean Phil lied! This must be a mistake... he would never... not our Phil... surely! /SNARKASM
Phil needs to go, but that's not the only problem here. Another is the gross bravado Microsoft has displayed throughout this process, chest out, smug as f*ck, strutting about signing contracts like it's as good as in the bag. It screams underhandedness. Like they know there are obstacles, but feel certain they're merely paywalls or could be lobbied past.
It's good to see some, like the CMA, standing their ground and not caving to their bully boy tactics. May...
Everyone's loving this one, and so it shall be mine.
FF is one of the most versatile franchises out there. It's combat has varied LOADS over the years, and while it doesn't always sit well with traditionalists, it always seems to find it's audience.
I'd love to see it, but I can't help but doubt it's happening any time soon. Recently they ditched the project, because it was too complicated, time consuming and expensive to achieve. Now it's back on, I guess.
Fingers crossed they've made some unexpected progress, but it just feels like messaging is constantly fluctuating between "we're on - not long now!" and "we tried - it ain't happening".
Watch this sp...
Can anyone explain the discrepancy here? Microsoft just announced up-to-date figures for series XS at 21 million up to now. VGChartz here is estimating 22m up to May 27th? Have VGChartz just not yet adjusted per Microsoft's announcement?
